Am I an asshole for wanting Richardson to veto the Buccaneers request to interview Chud?

nope. but he can't for a couple reasons.

1) between the end of a team's season and march 1 teams can't block a coaches call for an interview or hiring if it's a promotion. teams don't have to ask permission to speak to assistants about HC jobs during this window but it's done as a courtesy.

2) they already gave chud permission to interview with someone. once you've done that you have to allow it to all teams. you can't pick and choose who you let your assistants interview with. it's either no one or everyone.

Per PFT, looking like Mike Zimmer will get a second interview in Miami.

If the Dolphins take Zimmer out of the equation in Tampa, it would increase the chances that they opt for Chudzinski :(

My personal hope is that the Bucs wind up with someone other than Chudzinski or Zimmer.

Good news and bad...

Florio speculates that Miami is looking hard at Mike Zimmer, though there's word now that they're also looking at Mike McCoy and maybe Joe Philbin. Zimmer to Miami would be good for us in that we wouldn't have him in the division, but bad in that it would increase the chances of Tampa taking Chudzinski.

On the Tampa front though, Peter King says they're planning to take their time. Zimmer is interviewing there today. Besides Zimmer and Chudzinski, they're said to be looking at Mike Sherman and Brad Childress, and one paper speculates they'll look at Perry Fewell once the Giants are done.

Tampa taking their time is also good news/bad news for us. Good news in that it means they likely won't pounce on Chud quick. Bad in that it means the "Chud Watch" might be something we have to worry about for a while :(

all reports on Rivera is he is a very "detail" guy. I would imagine Rivera began mapping all this out back during the season when "Chud talk" started.

Word now that they'll be interviewing Tom Clements, QB coach for Green Bay. Also still speculation that they'll look at Perry Fewell, Giants DC, once they're done.

I got a feeling (and that's all it is) that they're going to go with someone who has a higher profile and/or a longer resume' unless for some reason they decide Chudzinski is absolutely "the guy".

Why would the Bucs hire another up and comer?? They want someone with head coaching experience.
