Chud Watch 2012

Personally i think Chudz stays based on pure loyalty to both coach Rivera and to Cam.

But i wish the big cat? is that what you'all call Richardson? would tell Hurney to throw some more money at the kid to make it certain.

Don't play chicken with an integral part of one of the most dynamic offensive turn arounds in NFL history.

There is so much wrong with this statement I dont know where to start. First Loyalty has nothing to do with Chud looking for HC pos. Its clear he wants to be a head coach and is interviewing with most vacant spots. If someone offers Chud the job he will be gone in a hart beat.

If he comes back he should at his old salary because money is not going to keep him here. He want to be a head coach for more than the money if he is willing to interview with the Buc's or the Fins.

Of course loyalty is a factor.

Same as with any exclusive high level position that requires being given an opportunity.

Rivera may feel that Chudz doesn't owe him anything, but there is at least some expectation of commitment when a HC hires a coordinator and that loyalty extends in both directions.

But, at the end of the day they call it NFL for a reason (not for long).

In the sense that most people want to advance i'm sure Chudz does also, but we don't know if Chudz is eagerly trying to find a HC as much as other teams are inquiring about him.

Extending Chudz (which obviously comes with more money) is a common practice extending to promising coordinators.

For example the Bengals extended Jay Gruden after his name was mentioned for some HC jobs.

The Cowboys extended Jason Garrett when he was a hot OC, and Garrett turned down the chance to become a HC to stay on in Dallas.

I'm not gonna recount all the times something like this happens, but it does happen.

The thing with Gruden and Garrett is that those are/were in position to overtake for their HC. Gruden will be the next Bengals HC and Garrett became HC.

Chud will not have that opportunity here. I agree with what you are saying though, those two were just bad examples.

Per PFT, looking like Mike Zimmer will get a second interview in Miami.

If the Dolphins take Zimmer out of the equation in Tampa, it would increase the chances that they opt for Chudzinski :(

My personal hope is that the Bucs wind up with someone other than Chudzinski or Zimmer.

Am I an asshole for wanting Richardson to veto the Buccaneers request to interview Chud?

I have no problem with any team outside of the NFC South interviewing/hiring him to be a HC, but FFS keep him out of the division at all costs.

They can't block an assistant interviewing for an HC position as long as it's earlier than March 1 and after the end of their (the team the assistant is currently coaching for) season.
