Bucs Interviewing Chud

so wait, even though he's under contract with us he can leave no problem if they offer him the job? cause if he gets the offer from rams or dolphins then whatever, but to a division rival id tell him he has to wait for his contract to expire for that poo. last thing we need is 2 games that should be easy gimmes to be incredibly difficult since he knows our entire team

in the window we are in right now the panthers can't stop him. teams can ask, but it's more of a courtesy than anything.

teams also can't pick and choose what teams they allow to talk to their guys about promotions or anything. you ok it for one and you have to do it for all.

It is funny that he's been to all these interviews and to my knowledge has not overly impressed, or particularly shined enough to be a front runner in any of these job searches. I mean the Jags hired Mularky for christ sakes! Mularky!

Without knowing what happened in the interviews, there could be many good reasons why they went in another direction without it being a knock on Chud.

For example, he may have told them that he needed a different QB to run the system he prefers. The Jags aren't ready to give up on Gabbert, so a coach that prefers a system that happens to fit Gabbert's abilities makes more sense for them.

Or take St. Louis. Jeff Fisher has a track record. Chud doesn't. Maybe they weren't ready for a leap of faith at this point.

Etc.

You might want to check out our own head coach and his interview history.

Hell people considered him the token "rooney rule" candidate for while.

Even if he doesn't get these jobs, just being interviewed is a tremendous help to his future prospects.

Mularkey has head coaching experience and he wasn't the decision maker on those horrible 4th down debacles engineered by Mike Smith. Also, the Falcons OLine is mediocre at best. They rolled the dice on Julio Jones getting them over the hump. You don't get over the hump if you can't run the ball when it counts and throw away numerous draft picks for a WR. Falcons will decline next year, just not that talented. I will be shocked if Chud gets hired. Coordinators don't always make great head coaches. Rivera waited a long time to get the Panthers job and he has way more long term proven success than Chud.

Mularkey is a horrible playcaller. You would think, on paper, the Jaguars would have preferred the explosive, creative guy who could work with their young QB, instead of the stagnated, retread guy who has contributed in no little way to Matt Ryan's limitations....But nope, they went with the latter.

Leads me to believe that he's not a particularly great interview. Ray Horton, Mike Tomlin, Spagnuolo all impressed teams during the process so much so that such knowledge was leaked. Its a little strange that we have not heard anything of the sort about Chud...

Like someone said, I don't think he's ready yet. Which is GOOD for us.

The Falcons just aren't that good and I don't think playcalling by Mularkey was the whole problem since Mike Smith was making some horrible decisions. I don't think Mularkey was a good hire, but I can see why Jax would select him over Chud.

I think Mularkey could be a really good coach, especially given the right circumstances. But, it seems like he's in the same situation now, that he was in in Buffalo. He has a young QB with question marks, no explosive vertical playmakers on offense, and questions on the defensive side of the ball.

But, he does have a solid RB, a very good TE, and a really high Draft pick. It could be interesting to see if Mularkey wants to get another QB...
