Jeff Fisher tells Adam Schefter that despite his statement that he's "deciding" between the Rams and Dolphins, neither team has actually offered him their head coaching job :skep:

From Florio: The Jeff Fisher Leverage Game Takes a Bizarre Turn

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports, citing a source close to Fisher (i.e., Fisher), that Fisher isn’t playing the Dolphins against the Rams, and vice-versa, in order to get the best possible deal. Taking it a step farther, Schefter reports that neither team has even made an offer to Fisher.

So Fisher is going to choose between the Rams and the Dolphins, tell one of them “thanks” and “no thanks” in rapid succession, and then ask the winner to make an offer? If that’s the strategy, Fisher is either lying, or he’s no longer competent to handle his business affairs.

And I’m not sure which one is worse.

Obviously, it’s not true. If Fisher is choosing between the Rams and the Dolphins and neither the Rams nor the Dolphins have made him a job offer, then what is Fisher choosing? Bed sheets?

There’s nothing wrong with exerting leverage, especially when dealing with a billion-dollar organization that is trying to hire someone with highly specialized skills to work long, stressful hours for most if not all of the year. Rarely if ever does one man hold so much power over members of the one percent’s one percent.

So why would Fisher deny it? It appears to be a simple (and misguided) P.R. ploy, aimed at the least-common-denominator fans who’ll digest without scrutiny a flimsy, illogical report that Schefter happily passed along, also without scrutiny. (That’s not a knock on Schefter. Plenty of reporters routinely do the same thing in the name of getting a scoop and/or keeping a source happy.)

I think that last paragraph kicked the irony meter into overdrive

Dude is so damn full of himself, why is he so damn special? Let's not forget this guy hasn't even won a SB. Just pick a damn team, what's next he's gonna want his decision televised? Teams aren't gonna play the wait game with him any-longer. Rams may just go ahead and hire Chud.

Don't really care. Beside the Rams and Fins can afford to wait until the playoffs and SB and then go after OC or DC from SF or GB or Saints and so on. Rams and Fins don't have to make a move right now. If I was them I would until the playoffs are done to do some good interviews better guys.:o

 Pot = Kettle
florio = schefter

both guys have thrown a ton of poo against the wall to see what sticks over the years.

for a while florio seemed to be the one that had better poo to fling but neither of them are at all innocent of it.

right after schefter left nfln he was the worst. he's gotten better, but he still talks out of his butt a lot.

I am not sure why folks want to fight over him. He is 142-120 in the regular season and 5-6 in the post season. How many times in Tennessee did it take a late season push by the team to "save" his job?

At Tennesee/Houston he had 6 winning seasons in 17 years as head coach and only 2 since 2004.

Does that really give you a ton of leverage? No wonder guys like Chud with no headcoaching experience and only 3 years as a coordinator are getting serious consideration.

    • Super raw, not sure he is worth a top 10 pick.  Primary a pass rusher.  A bit like Burns, very fast athletic but doesnt always follow the play.  His highlights look good but when you watch him play you can see he is just raw and needs to develop
    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
