Life after Chud.....

Chud = overrated.

Life will be fine.

Rivera is the one who sets the tone for what type OC he wants. Tom Brady makes the OC in NE, Payton in Indy......and Cam's talent will make the OC here. That is why as the game slowed down for Cam....Chud began looking better.

I couldn't agree more.

Chud can be replaced, that is surely true. Would they be better or worse?

Why would we be better off if he stayed? Because he is a popular coach who has the buy-in of all the players. That is big actually. Everyone wants to play for him. He has learned the personnel and how best to use them through trial and error. You can see his progression through the year. If we bring in someone else the learning curve starts all over again. He started off passing but has used the running game more as the season continued and has learned how to use Cam in the offense.

Would it be terrible if he left? Probably not. We do have talent, we have the playbook and I am sure some of the guys who worked with Chud all year could run his offense.

But I am one of those folks who believes that coaches make the player as much as the player makes the coach. Otherwise explain how a new coach can take the exact same players that the old coach had, and have them playing at a much higher level. It obviously isn't player talent alone or things would have stayed the same. Obviously coaching can make a huge difference and historically has. Just look what Harbaugh did with Alex Smith this year. Who can say without Shula and Chud that Newton would have done so much so soon. Things have to be in a gestalt where the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts.

CAN YOU PEOPLE.... STOP

Do you really think that Chud MAKES Newton???

I mean was he there at Blinn Jr college?

Was he there at Auburn?

Did Cam and Chud spend all offseason together??

NO, NO, NO....

Is it Chud throwing the ball and scrambling for TD's??? NO--

I am pretty damn sure it was Cam that made Chud.... And in the event he is stupid enough to leave us,. we shall be fine...

This is the problem with the Panthers, we always think we need someone.... Well not anymore... We have a person who makes everyone around him better.,...

If folks dont want to be on the bandwagon, its their fault, not ours...

Fugg him if he leaves, ...

AkPantherFan....

Hasn't Tom Brady had 6 OC'S come and go through his career?
nope. only 3 and none of those changes happend early in his career.

in fact....weiss' system had been in place for a couple years prior to brady taking over and weiss was there for a few years after and then it got handed to mcD who was the QB coach who was there for a few more years and then handed to obrien who was also the QB coach. now it's going back to mcD. all of these years they have essentially been running weiss' offense.

you know who has had like 6 OCs throughout his career? alex smith.

you want continuity. a coach may not make or break a players career, but a lack of continuity early on can certainly stifle growth.

regardless of how great any of you think newton is, it can't be underestimated how important it is for him and the offense as a whole to have that continuity at the top while the system is still getting put in place.

is it possible that things could go on without missing a beat if chud leaves? maybe, but why in the world would you want to risk it just so you can have it proved that cam is the best ever?

the panthers and esp. newton needs chud to stay for at least another year. if he doesn't stay then expect it to take longer than expected for this team to become successful. the offense might not take much of a step back at all if he leaves, but it certainly won't progress as fast without him here.

cannot compare Brady to Cam. Every player reacts or responds in their own way to what can be considered instability or change.

A better argument for Cam is to mention A) the various changes and his decision to make those changes that he went through by transferring during his college career and B) the multiple lucrative contractual negotiations that he completed prior to signing with Carolina that quickly schooled or further solidified his understanding that this "game" is a business and should be approached as such.
