Maybe lose one against Tampa and win vs. the Giants. Either way, 11-5 and we win the division for the second straight season.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and be an optimist. If i break the season into quarters this is what I see.

First Quarter 3-1. I see us beating the eagles and spliting with either atlanta or dallas.

2nd Quarter 3-1. I see us dropping the NO or Cards game.

3rd Quarter 3-1. 3 home games and one on the road.

4th Quarter 2-2. Tuff stretch here. With the last game possibly deciding where we place in the south.

So me being a Homer i say we go 11-5.

is there any way to dig up threads from the old crashed site?

a lot of what's being said here is what was said before the start of last season...tough schedule, 9-10 wins, etc, etc...

i think i was one of the only people if not the only person who said carolina would come out of the box hot and be no less than 6-2 at the bye.

here's my take this on season...and before i get started, i'm not claiming ANY game will be easy. 90% of the time, the panthers win ugly. that's not going to change any time soon.

i don't know about the rest of the nfc south, but i believe the panthers (and the their fans) will continue defending the home turf with a vengence...especially after the embarrassment by arizona. therefore i'm tagging every home game as a win. unfortunately for panther opponents this season, it won't take half the season for the run game to explode.

week 1-eagles W

much like the san diego home opener last season, this is a statement game...@ home.

week 2-@ atlanta W

i had to think about this one for a long time. it's going to be another tough one between these two teams, but i believe matt ryan's rookie side will show it's ugly head early in the season.

week 3-@ dallas W

carolina has had it's difficulties with the cowboys in the past, but let's be serious...underneath all the hype and hooplah, dallas is a shell of a team.

week 4-bye

the panther's worst enemy...but i predict the next 3 games to be the biggest run games of the season.

week 5-washington W

remember last season's preseason dominace? that was no fluke.

week 6-@ tampa bay W

it's tough to gameplan against a team that's in complete shambles. if gruden were still at the helm, i'd give the edge to the bucs. the mad scientist (and to a much larger extent tony dungy) was the reason this collection of once high profile players was as competitive as they were. it'll be an ugly game as usual.

week 7-buffalo W

the panthers @ home. nuff said.

week 8-@ arizona W

outside of the postseason meltdown, the panthers have a history of owning the cardinals. playing in a division with the rams, seahawks, and 49ers won't carry them to the promise land this time around.

week 9-@ new orleans W

god i hate the saints.

week 10-atlanta W

can you believe a series sweep?

week 11-miami W

this is going to be a fun one to watch.

week 12-@ new york jets L

there you have it folks. the first loss of the season. and trust me...it will be depressing. the schedule will finally take it's toll on carolina.

week 13-tampa bay W

it's not good to play the panthers after an embarrassing loss...and at BOA to boot.

week 14-@ new england W/L

this one is a coin toss. i don't think new england will be the super power that it usually is, but they will always be competitive. just like the superbowl between these 2, it's going to be a mistake that determines the game.

week 15-minnesota W

for the first time in a long while, carolina plays minnesota mistake free.

week 16-@ new york giants W

the giants didn't have an answer for the panthers last season until derrick ward stepped on the field.

oh wait, no derrick ward.

week 17-new orleans W

god i hate the saints. did i say that already?

did i predict 15-1 or 14-2? holy crap.

Yes you did

The only games on there I would change are the first Atlanta game to a loss, and the Minny game to a loss. The jets game to a win, NYG to a loss and keep the NE game a loss. I'm leaning towards 12-4/11-5 with losses to Atlanta, Minny, NYG and NE with a possibility of a slip up somewhere in the schedule.

week 1-eagles L

McNabb is a clutch Quarterback, home or not... I think he'll be carving your secondary up all game, Westbrook basically needs to add 50 yards rushing here which is a given and its a close win for the Eagles. That is unless Brian Dawkins leaving takes a big toll.

week 2-@ atlanta L

If you forget, Matt Ryan's rookie side brought up the Falcons scoring 45 points on the Panthers last season. Whats going to change here? Your only hope is to contain Turner or hope he gets hurt week 1.

week 3-@ dallas L

Dallas may be a shell of itself but possibly has the best ground game set in place with Barber, Jones, Choice... Plus I think DeMarcus Ware rattles Jake enough for you guys to lose it. Best hope is to pound them out like the Ravens did, which your very capable but Dallas is always money early in the season.

week 4-bye

Sucks to be you guys.... horrible week for a bye week.

week 5-washington W

Well Carolina should have the edge here, unless Carlos Rodgers pulls a Antoine Winfield.

week 6-@ tampa bay L

Its going to be a ugly game but I don't see Carolina walking in and winning this one as evidenced last season to a 27-3 loss. New scheme, new guys, your not going to be able to expect the same team from the previous Bucs. Your hope here is the Bucs dline collapses before you guys meet up. Plus like you say down in your Giants game, Derrick Ward was the answer to you guys losing... so no Derrick Ward, no problem... oh wait, Derrick Ward will be playin with Earnest Graham pulling the power running role. Jake typically turns the ball over 2-3 times too against Tampa.

week 7-buffalo W

Ya, I think this game you guys abuse Owens and your ground game posts 200+ rushing.

week 8-@ arizona L

Couldn't stop them at home, don't see how your going to travel on the road and beat the at their own place. Better hope Warner/Fitzgerald isn't active. Run the ball this time, and the first time you guys met, Carolina barely squeaked out a come behind win.

week 9-@ new orleans L

Yea, I hate the Saints too. Worse then the Falcons. I think you guys follow up week 8 right with a similar performance of being burned for 300+ yards passing back to back weeks.

week 10-atlanta W

Yea, your guys real edge is at home and might be the only real advantage here. Ryan might also do you guys in if your not forcing any pressure and you get a heavy dose of Turner and Roddy White. Carolina takes it though.

week 11-miami W

Miami collapses yet again, Parcells or not... I don't see them doin enough to put you guys away.

week 12-@ new york jets W

I just don't see them having enough to beat you guys either. Their best bet is to try to keep it close and win by a field goal but still... very unlucky.

week 13-tampa bay W

Being at home is your strength. Jake will still turn it over atleast twice even if you do win.

week 14-@ new england L

You kidding? December at New England with Brady back to top shape. How you gonna stop Moss or Welker?... Their defense does have enough to stop your run game. Definatley a guaranteed loss if there is one on the schedule.

week 15-minnesota W

Yea, you guys win here aslong as D doesn't fumble like Peterson does. Just don't let Winfield blow Jake up again, that was the real turning point in your last meeting.

week 16-@ new york giants L

Brandon Jacobs alone can handle the load, plus the Giants should have Braylon Edwards by this week and they have a improved defensive line from last year. Steve Smith has also progressed and I see him out doing your Steve Smith. Carolina won't win here... Again.

week 17-new orleans W

Yea, home and Brees should be a little beat up about now. Perfect time to ground and pound them if your backs are still healthy enough. Won't be pretty though.

    • I've watched and listened to several evaluations from the good ole youtubers.  From what I was able to watch, the first few drives before I left to do a job to the end of the game were very different for Bryce.  So he had a "good" game.  Which is great.  I love a win, period.  His WRs had some drops, thing ripped away, etc.  Not great, but a W is a W, right? I think the Panthers have to start Bryce.  You have to see if he continues to build on the good plays and make fewer and fewer bad plays.  No QB is going to play a perfect game.  But we need to continue to see Bryce make plays.  Does he have the ability to will his team to victory?  I'm not sure. I'm still in the Bryce is a backup QB camp.  I'm glad he had a good game, I glad we won, but I need to see more before we make a decision to keep or trade him.  Playing Andy literally does NOTHING to help you for the future.  Andy may not even resign with the Panthers.  We could be out both starting QBs by the time FA/Draft season hits. Ultimately, this is a Dan Morgan and Dave Canales issue.  Can they get value out of Bryce to help them improve the total roster?  Is there a FA QB who would be an upgrade?  A surprise cut or post season trade?  Or is there a QB at the top of the draft who they think they can mold into a high level starting QB?  I don't know. I do know I want to see more of Bryce Young and more out of him on the field.  I want to see the fire, the competitor come out.  I want him getting pissed.  I want him to grab his beanbag and tell us all he's the f'ing dude.  I just don't think we'll see that out of Bryce.  If not the fire, then let me see the ice - let me see the rattle proof dude who kills with accuracy and playmaking no matter how hot and crazy it gets.
    • Ickey at LT and Brady as Center / Swing position player is more valuable to our team IMO
    • That's fair but signing a veteran like Justin Fields to a one year deal and drafting defense with our first is always an option two.  I personally don't think these QBs this year are top 10 worthy selections
