because this screams 2 steps backwards:

"I think they're going to plug some holes and not avoid some of the things that in the past has gone on. Just really attack it and say, 'Hey, we need to get better in these areas. And we're going to get better. And if you're not willing to work, you're not going to be here,'" Smith said.

"I respect coach Fox, but I also know sometimes (Fox was) running around it or sugar-coating it when there's a direct need," Smith added. "(Rivera) said, 'Hey, we're going to change. And if you don't change, you won't be with us.'"

Fox was sent packing because he truly allowed mediocrity in his locker room.. wouldn't it be wise to quit being so damn negative until we know for sure that isn't going to change? It sure sounds like the message is getting across to the players...

the future looks bright..

mario would be such a huge addition, especially because we are planning to switch to the 3-4 in the future.

I see you're new here, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not just trolling. This has been discussed in great depth. No one has said we're switching to the 3-4 in the future. The only one to even imply that it's a possibility was McDermott, and honestly I don't think he'll even be here long enough to see that happen, but we'll see. Even if he is here long term, I think he was speaking out of line when he made his comment and didn't realize some people would take it too far. I think he said something along the lines of "we'll think about transitioning" or something to that effect.

Besides all that, Mario is much more of a fit in a 4-3 than a 3-4.

the only problem i have with "building through the draft" is that you cant wiff on them at all. you have to invest a couple of years in each draft pick. if they suck then you invested at least 2 years in them. with fa you should expect immediate results. if not you know that they wont work for you and you can make your decision then. with draft picks you have to invest a least 2-3 years.

you have to do this anyhow... you can't consistently build through FA...

wow, well if we're switching the the 3-4 we might as well go to the 1-5-5. (Sarcasim)

I'd love to have mario come join us but don't think it will happen. I'd like us to get the the point where building through the draft is getting it done while signing a couple FAs to put us over the top.

That being said I don't think we are there yet. It'd be nice to pick up some proven FA's so our draft building idea can be put to work.
