I don't see us going OT with the first pick. We have much bigger needs. Hopefully Otah will be back at full strength for once, Gross is fine, Bell will only be better, and Geoff Swartz is definitely good.

Don't need an OT this year. Tired of the talks to get one.

Only reason I think it would be smart to get an OT is that it is hard to find a franchise left tackle. This might be the last year we are in position to draft one for the next 10 years. Bell and Schwartz are not that player and who knows if Otah will ever be able to play a full season again. Gross can still be that guy for a couple years, but I think we could go ahead and get one while we have the chance. I would feel the same way about an elite DE if there was one in the draft this year.

Defense is definitely more of a need right now, but it is much easier to pick up a DT, OLB and CB later on. The second round is going to be loaded with potential starting CBs and OLBs this year.

take the best LB or CB available. Or Trent Richardson if he happens to fall. It would be dumb as crap to pass up on him even though we have Dwill and Stew.

so OT is not a big need but we need to take Trent Richardson even though RB is definitely not a need

bigfurrykittyman i think i speak for everyone on this forum when i say

sure okay so we can be known as "That team with 3 first round running backs for no reason."

also I'd take Michael Brockers over Still atm.

i'm not getting the kuechly idea.

so he's a jack of all trades? a utility guy. i don't see him as being particularly dominant outside of ILB, which we don't need.

you like him because he tackles a lot. he's not particularly strong or fast but you put him on the outside.

just not getting it. it's dan connor 2.0.

meh....

I hope we don't go oline.
i think it needs to be addressed, but i'm not crazy about going OT at the expense of the defense that needs a whole lot more attention than anything on the offense.

bell played like a rookie OT this year. there is usually a pretty solid improvement from year one to year two so you've got to expect that to happen. plus otah is putting in more work than he has in years. maybe he's finally motivated?

competition and rotation between those two might just be all we need to get through the year....and we didn't do horribly this past year on offense with bell as a starting RT did we? cam didn't die.

and we'll also have shwartz back who can compete with hangman for the spot.

can the right side of the line be improved? absolutely. does it need to be? yep. does it need to take precedence over the defense that has largely been neglected for a few years? i don't think so.

we can get by this coming year with bringing in a midland FA or two to help out with competition for the right side. left side is solid enough. WRs are good enough. the offense is in good shape. good enough to be largely left alone personnel-wise so that we can focus on fixing the defense.

its not settling for an "ok" oline. it's choosing your battles and deciding that we really need to take care of the defense.

imo, kalil is the only guy on offense i feel certain i would take if he were available. maybe blackmon but thats not a certainty.

we really need to get the D taken care of and we do it by going after people with enormous upside at their position and who have a hunger and drive similar to that of beason and newton. we don't do it playing safe. we swing for the fences, but we do it smartly...not liking a player who is solid, but not an exact fit for a need we have or someone we would have to take out of their natural position and experiment with.

you go with guys who are dynamic prospects.

kirkpatrick is the only one on this list that fits that bill. the rest of the guys are "safe" picks.
