Chud....

I just want to know who gets credit for making that awesome pick.

watch the interviews after newton was drafted.

rivera and hurney said that chud and shula put together some presentation showing why they should draft him and how they could make thei offense work.

believe it or not i don't care. it's there. i'm not going to go through the effort of finding an exact quote.

it was, though, a team effort to get him.

i don't think there was really any one person who gets the credit. the coaches wanted him. hurney wanted him. JR talked to him and liked him.

he won them all over. he got drafted. that's all that matters.

I agree that all parties involved get credit....including Cam. The ownership (JR), management (Hurney), the Coaching staff and the scouts were all in on this, just like the majority of the things that happen in this orginization. I just don't see anyone playing the role of a Jerry Jones, Al Davis or Bill Parcells here. That's why it's funny to see Hurney getting raked over the coals for some of the bad moves. It's not all him, he plays a part, but I think it's a group effort.

The one who made the call was Richardson re: Newton. I don't care if somebody made a billboard and a powerpoint, if Richardson didn't like him then he wouldn't have been drafted here. The buck stopped there.

Secondly, nobody listens to a first year coordinator when they have the 1st overall pick. It's nonsense. I highly doubt that even Rivera's contributions were taken with too much severity considering he too was a first year head coach. Why don't we start talking about the towel boys that liked Cam to Carolina?

I get that some people like Chud and recognize that he did a good job with the offense this year. I really do. However, what confuses me the most are people that consider his contributions invaluable and are crying chicken little about the impact that it would have on Cam. Even the most staunch Cam haters have to recognize that the play calling was about 20% of what propelled Cam to greatness and the rest of it was his own improvisation. Chud did a fantastic job of staying out of Cam's way and allowing him to be the dynamic player that he was and will be.

If he wants to bail to Jacksonville to babysit Blaine Gabbert until he's ready to be an NFL quarterback, if he ever will become one, then he's more than welcome in my opinion to take a shot. Best of luck trying to implement a similar offense to what Cam ran for him in Carolina.

Somehow, Chud became the most overrated player on the team without ever taking a fuging snap.

yep, Cam also pushed for read option stuff to be put in.....Cam also knows more about the read option stuff that we inserted than Chud. That is why he can tell DeAngleo what he need to fix to bust a big one on the option outside toss.

Classic case of a coach getting too much credit when things go well and too much blame when things go badly. At the end of the day, it's the players that have to execute regardless. Was John Fox as bad of a coach as Jimmy Clausen made him look last season? As Jake Delhomme made him look the year before that? Nope. With the right guys, Fox can still win football games. He just wore out his welcome here.

A lot of the time, coaching changes are just psychological for the players. They're mostly calling the same plays. It's just the frequency that changes. Anybody that comes in after Chud will just have to see what he called, or have Cam tell him what he wants called, and let him make it happen. The best QB's in the league do most of their work at the LOS anyways. Experience will get him there, but I can't help but wonder why some people don't anticipate Cam being smart enough to handle the responsibility of audibles.

Might nave just gotten some bad news on this front.

Jay Gruden, whom some have speculated to be a favorite for the Jags job, has decided he will not interview for the head coaching opening with the Rams...or the Jaguars :(

Whether he was the favorite or not, that narrows the field. And if an offensive coach is what they really want, it could (repeat: could) mean they go harder for Chudzinski.

Still hoping this doesn't happen, but I'd have felt better with Gruden in the race.

because many of them want to believe he simply can't and that is what made it easy to push the belief that he was unintelligent. There a still many who want to believe that Cam isn't intelligent based on nothing more than stereotyping and small-minded thinking. Sad but true.

I'm pretty sure that's not it.
