ZackAttack's Off-season + Mock Draft

I felt for some reason that I needed to show what I would think is something that the Panthers should do to prepare for the 2012 season. First is free agency and then the draft.

Free Agency

Re-sign: Thomas Davis - I think the Panthers will let TD out of his current contract and sign him to a 1 year deal to see where he is at both physically and mentally. He deserves one more chance. He's a terrific player when healthy.

Re-sign: Jeremy Shockey - Jeremy stayed relatively healthy this year. He has been a great asset next to Greg Olsen and Steve Smith as a good receiving option. He wants to be here so why not.

Re-sign: Derek Anderson - He has been awesome in helping Cam understand the offense and being that veteran presence that Cam Newton needed. Not a better fit than Derek to back up Cam.

Sign: Antonio Garay - There have been others who said we should get this guy on this board. I agree. He played under Ron Rivera in San Diego. Oh yea he's also a pretty good NT. Also I can't think of anyone else so whatever haha.

Cut: Jason Baker - He's been terrible this year. All I need to say. I'm sure you Panthers fans know what I'm talking about.

Trade: Jimmy Clausen to Seattle - I saw that because of what I've heard about Pete Carroll liking Jimmy's potential. I say they get him for a 6th rd pick.

Draft

1st Round - Dre Kirkpatrick, DB, Alabama 6'3" 195 lbs - Dre has great size for a corner. He can cover the big guys. He was burned on some plays, however he can cover very well and can tackle. With him playing opposite Gamble and Munnerlyn playing nickle. :D

2nd Round - Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin 6'4" 320 lbs - Strong run blocker who has ability to be starting right guard in the NFL. He was excellent this year!

4th Round - Keenan Robinson, WLB, Texas 6'3" 240 lbs - Not incredibly fast, but he's a football player who can flat out tackle a guy! Has very good instincts.

5th Round - Jeff Demps, RB/WR, Florida 5'8" 185 lbs - Coach Rivera wants a scat back and he gets it here! I would love it if Demps came to Charlotte! He's amazingly fast! He will make our offense and special teams way better than it is. Especially the special teams. He will be an awesome PR for us.

6th Round - Winston Guy, SS, Kentucky 6'1" 212 lbs - Will be more of a special teams player, but he's a good tackler that will help our horrible special teams.

6th Round (From Seattle) - Drew Butler, P, Georgia 6'2" 212 lbs - At this point we pretty much filled our holes on the team. We fill a final one here by selecting a powerful leg and great accuracy in Drew Butler. He should be better than Jason Baker.

7th Round - Cody Johnson, FB, Texas 5'11" 252 lbs - Cody will be brought in to compete with Richie Brockel for the Fullback position.

Well that's gonna do it for that. It might not be perfect, but I believe if our favorite team does this, then the NFL should watch out!
