How easy is it to drive overseas?

The first time I frove in the UK I ended up scraping the hubcaps pretty good, never had issues after that. Mainland Europe is no big deal but stay the hell out of the passing lane if you are not passing. Follow the speed laws, cameras are everywhere. I don't advise driving in Asia unless you've been there a few times and seen how people work there, it's nuts.

Surprisingly not that bad. I drove from Frankfurt to Prague to Vienna to Venice to Lake Como...f*ck too many places to remember but really its not that bad at all. Most of Europe, especially Germany has great infrastructure and enough English sub-text to get around easily.

lol, this.

Canada was the same way. Seems the U.S. is the only developed country with drivers too dumb to keep the left lane clear for passing. People here think if you're going 5 mph over the speed limit it's fine to just cruise in the left lane.

I drove all over Scotland for 10 days in an automatic. I'd definitely recommend getting the automatic. It took me about 5 mins to get used to being on the other side of the road. The curb of the correct lane is always on the passenger side of the car. If you keep that in mind you'll be fine.

Even if you have a car while you're there, don't be afraid to use the public transport. The UK has a great system and if you're doing a day trip somewhere, you can prob take the train or bus for cheaper than it'd cost you in fuel for the car.

Asia is insane. Driving a motorcycle through downtown Saigon was the most terrifying experience of my life.

Getting used to driving on the left is not a big deal. Your brain adapts instantly, probably because everyone around you is doing it and you just go with the flow. I did it in Australia and Thailand and the only problem I had was getting stuck in a river. Stay away from rivers. Going with an automatic is a good idea... I drove a manual in Peru and had no problems, but they drive on the right side of the road.

What are you doing in the uk and ireland?

Oh and make sure you have an international drivers permit. You can get one from AAA for fifteen bucks and it's good for a year.

I was in New Zealand for almost four months and to me the only tricky parts about driving were the potential perilous falls off the side of the road. Driving on the other side of the road really isn't difficult if you pay attention while driving anyway.

So how much attention do you pay to what you are doing while driving? That will be the exact opposite of the difficulty level you will encounter.

Honeymoon...I can't stay on a beach and just drink for more than one day and I also hate sweating so it's a traveling european honeymoon

Fly into Manchester and attempt to drive to Stratford Upon Avon. Staying there two days at a spa for her and nerdy/golf poo for me.

Then fly out of Man to Dublin for two, Kinsale for two, then Dromoland Castle for two so I can learn to hunt with falcons

I've never had any problems and I can't name all the countries I've driven through. I purposely avoided driving anywhere on England's backwards roads, though. Its hard enough to remember to look the opposite way first when crossing the road.

Definitely need to know which country, though.

Don't be a pussy. I was driving in LA an hour after I landed at LAX.
