Do you guys think Jimmy Clausen will give us great trade value come draft time?

hard to say what we would get now. The kid has talent and measurables still plus he has been humbled by a horrible rookie year (with no chance in hell to do better) and by wearing a tshirt and ball cap during his soph campaign.

if he stays/gets smart he can make a market for himself because Hurney is going to give him the opportunity to show his wares at some point. It's business.

A west coast team might see something in him. If I am a gm or coach, I might let a fifth or sixth rounder go and bring him in, considering the horrible conditions he was forced to perform under here. Maybe a few years under a veteran would help. There is no way he does anything here because there is too much negativity towards him. Here, people expected a rookie second rounder to play behind a second string line under an inept offensive coordinator and take us to the promise land.

Teams that could be interested: San Francisco, New York Jets, Green Bay, New Orleans.

New Orleans took a short, average-armed QB and put a stud OL in front of him and made him a hall of famer. JC would be a good understudy to Brees.

San Francisco and Harbaugh shows us that coaching may be important.

Green Bay has been a QB factory--Is Flynn that good, or is the coaching staff and supporting cast that good? Is the system that good?

NY Jets have a stud OL with some good WRs. Sanchez was eventually exposed, but many thought he was great until this season.

So just because he sucked here do not think others would not take a chance on trading for him. We created the worst environment to develop a young QB: Lame duck coach, OC from the Employment Security Commission, Injured line, rookie WRs (except Smith), bad defense, etc. Clausen would eventually be good in an established system.

The only way Clausen gets any interest is if Cam gets hurt and he gets to start a few regular season games. My guess is with Chud and the tight ends we have now that he might not do as bad as everyone thinks. The problem with that is if he plays well enough to garner draft picks we would probably want to keep him

I'd hope we would go for Anderson over Clausen in this situation..especially since they activated Anderson over Clausen all season

I think Clausen is pretty much gone

He is a Cade McNown...but even worse

With Cam at the helm and Anderson being a serviceable backup, I think it would be cool maybe this year or next to bring in a project QB for Chud & Shula to build into a "promising future starter" type that we can get ridiculous compensation for a few years down the road.

Agree with all except the Jets which really doesnt make sense for the Jets. that would be a bad fit because the offensive coaching isnt good. they havent done a great job developing Sanchez in my book, he still plays like a rookie and i have said many times that if the Lions would've picked Sanchez, that they wouldnt be great while Stafford would be as good as he is in NY. the Packers make good sense due to the QB factory and Clausen could learn from Rodgers. the Saints also make sense, but i doubt it happens and i think the 49ers is the team that he SHOULD go to. he can learn from Harbaugh and if Smith struggles or gets hurt then he could see time.
