Stew says he'd love to stay a panther long term

Absolutely, what value is Williams with his huge contract. Stew has had injury issues except for this last season. Perfect time to send him packing for draft picks and use the money he will command. (cheaper? wrong, wait till you try to sign him).

Williams is plenty fast and works great in our offense. Pair him with a scat back and we are set. Scat back from 4th round is much cheaper and opens offense even more.

So, trade could get you Cincys 21st pick, money to sign FA OLB, and scat back opens offense up even more.

Or, we could just say, "I like Stew, he aint going nowhere" and stay at 8-8 for years to come. At least we have a huge arsenal of high paid backs, nevermind that we cannot utilize them

lol....when Stewart's current contract is up DeAngleo will be 30 years old.....and DeAngleo is the RB with injury issues. Not Stewart. Stewart is a NFL RB. NFL players play through injury.

I just don't get how when someone puts on a Panther uniform then suddenly logic doesn't apply. What happened to LT when he turned 30? Got cut. What happens to most RBs when they turned 30 (splitting reps makes zero difference). Yet you suggest an old RB is what this franchise needs? One who doesn't fit the scheme like a better and younger Stewart does?

the goal is to keep them both. Williams is earning now what he didn't early on IMO.

I have stated that the GM uses second contracts to reward players with limited upside. DelHomme (paid him 3x what anyone in the NFL would have in his condition), DWIll (will be 30 with 3 years left on contract), Thomas Davis (Gave him millions).

I also think he overpaid for Charles Godfrey, Ryan Kalil, and Charles Johnson.

That DT you all want? That CB? We should have had them this year.

What % of player say "Man I cant wait to leave"

Exactly. These folks cling to every word that comes through the press. The press is where the negotiations begin. Propaganda. Agent driven.

Of course, the way Hurney has been writing checks, I would say the same thing and mean every word.

DeAngelo is 28 with 4 years to go on his contract. He has had one foot injury but came back this year to look stronger and faster than ever. With his split duties, I do not see a problem with him running until he is 32.

yes, and when Stewart's current contract is up (and you shouldn't pay a RB until his existing deal is up)....Williams would be 30.

Name a 30-32 year old RB playing the NFL.....that was playing for the team he is now on 3 years go? They are depth and situational players at that time. Williams will be no different. You don't put your ground game in the hands of a 30 yr old RB in today's NFL. They are on your team for depth and leadership.

If Williams is 28 now, and if my math is correct, he will be 29 a year from now. He will turn 30 between the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He is not a featured back. Our system splits carries and time. He has not and will not get beaten to death like AP or someone.

I am not sure why you would want to cut someone you just signed. I doubt anyones contract will be friendly to that kind of move

After the 2012 season is when we have to make a decision on what to do with the RBs. Stewart is under contract for 2012. 2012 likely will be Stewart's best season of his career as well. Contract year (which make the thought of trading him then crazy)

DeAngleo will be 30 when the 2013 starts.

30 is 30 for a NFL RB. There are only a handful of RBs that have been true feature RBs (they make up the minority of NFL RBs)......all those other RBs hit the 30 wall as well.
