some crazy poo here

1. Colts - Andrew Luck - Yea, I guess with the departure of Polians the Colts franchise will usher in a new era of QBing, whether or not they want him to start immediately as a rookie or wait depends on Peyton's condition by next season. I don't think they trade Peyton immediately, they'll try to hedge their bets but if Manning doesn't like the current situation around camp time and he's healthy they'll make a move to help build something that resembles a defense.

2. Rams - Matt Kalil - Arguably the best LT prospect since Thomas in 2007. He goes here because the Rams were absolutely piss poor at protecting their QB last year, and given Sam Bradford is not the most durable QB (being generous here) in the league, if they're to succeed by his arm they're going to need for it to not fall off after taking a pounding in the pocket.

3. Dolphins - Robert Griffin III - Ok so after the Rams take Kalil, which was to be expected, the Vikings are like "fug". Ponder and McNabb were also banged up dropping back all year, and at about 8/9, the Vikings would be more comfortable to take a tackle off the board than at 3 with no Kalil. But this isn't merely because Matt Moore's their starting QB. Ever since the year after Marino retired they've been to the playoffs twice, losing in the wildcard round, and lack of QB consistency has played a huge part of it. Henne failed to continue the QBing legacy in Miami and while Matt Moore helped the team rebound as the season progressed, the Dolphins have given the ball to a bunch of failed experiments (Culpepper, Frerotte, Rosenfels, Harrington, Cleo Lemon?, AJ Feeley, etc) without spending a first round pick on a QB, which has recently given teams more success passing the ball in the last few years.

I think their original plan would've been to trade for Luck but Indy might've been asking for too much for him. With both Matt Barkley and Landry Jones returning to school, the QB market in the first round just got thinner, and Miami is looking at some offensive coaching prospects (Philbin, Mularkey) to interview. Especially if they pick up Philbin they have someone that has worked under McCarthy to help Robert Griffin develop at the pro level and use his athleticism to make plays both in and out of the pocket, like Rodgers does.

4. Browns - Trent Richardson - Cleveland kind of is at an impasse with Blackmon on the board. On one hand, their original plan was that he would've been gone by now and since Peyton Hillis is likely to leave, and well, didn't have a great year by any means, they should take the running back. However, on the other hand, Colt McCoy has virtually no consistent weapon. There was no 1000 yard receiver on the team. But maybe that's because McCoy isn't the answer, and rookie Greg Little showed huge promise with 706 receiving yards and 61 catches. Richardson is a lethal weapon out of the backfield for Alabama

5. Buccaneers - Morris Claiborne - With the questions surrounding Aqib Talib playing in the NFL and Ronde Barber being ancient and wayyy past his prime (because he's ancient), and the best corner prospect on the board for TB, the decision is simple. Yea Freeman struggled and Blackmon would look pretty nice here but their defense was like raped through every one of their orifices last season and the offense didn't look as bad.

6. Redskins - Justin Blackmon - You may ask why I didn't make them the team that traded up for Griffin, and that's because the Redskins offered Matt Flynn the biggest free agent QB contract since Drew Brees. QB is their biggest need and Washington loves to go HAM on their biggest needs in free agency. Also nobody outbids for free agents like they do, and with the sudden lack of options for QBs in the draft if Flynn doesn't get tagged (he very well might, but I went with this scenario because I don't know who the fug Green Bay would pick here since I think the Redskins would still pursue Flynn), Washington gets him. Blackmon here is a good value and their leading receiver last year was Jabbar Gaffney. No brainer.

7. Jaguars - Michael Floyd - Eh, if you argue the logic of this pick (Floyd in the top ten right after Blackmon?), well, Jacksonville was never that good at drafting anyway. Also I'm getting lazy, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this happened. I mean they picked the 3rd OT off the board in the top ten in 2009, the 3rd DT off the board in the top ten in 2010, and the 3rd QB off the board in the top ten in 2011. Then there was that time they traded up to pick the third DE off the board in 2008. It seems like Gene Smith is much more interested in filling team needs than getting value, especially with top ten picks. This year, they're going to look for weapons for Gabbert.

8. Vikings - Riley Reiff - It's seriously debatable who is a better overall tackle between Martin and Reiff at this point. However, Reiff is generally regarded as the best pass-blocking tackle, and pass pro was a huge problem for Minnesota. Charlie Johnson was a huge disappointment at left tackle and with Reiff they can move him back to guard.

9. Panthers - Dre Kirkpatrick - Just call him Dre (Panther fans seem to have this obsession with creating corny nicknames for their best players). Maybe you'd think he'd suck as a corner, but the Panthers will, at the very least, fill one glaring need at no.2 corner or free safety. I do think he can play no.2 corner in this league. I mean for one it'll help us get more physical there. Munnerlyn struggled mightily while Gamble played outstanding on the other side. QBs didn't do well passing on Gamble, but it was effortless getting the ball to their 2nd receivers. Anybody over 5'11'' could abuse Captain.

10. Cardinals - Jonathan Martin - Arizona trades up to where the Bills are on the clock to take the best OT prospect with franchise potential left on the board. Levi Brown is horrible and they'll let him go to FA so they can replace him here, but with the next two teams threatening to pick OLine the Cards leapfrog them with a trade up.

11. Seahawks - David DeCastro - Although they desperately need a QB, there's nobody worth it here, and Seattle's offensive line was below average in both pass pro and run.

12. Chiefs - Dontari Poe - They don't really have a young nose in the middle and Gregg Kelly is like 80 years old.

13. Bills - Luke Kuechly - They need a linebacker that can help them in pass defense (Kelvin Sheppard isn't that good) and Luke is the most well-rounded prospect in the draft at ILB, winning the Butkus Award, leading the nation in tackles, and posting 3 interceptions. He'll get to play alongside Nick Barnett.

14. Cowboys - Courtney Upshaw - Anthony Spencer is leaving. I don't feel like writing a lot more.

15. Eagles - Zach Brown - Philly's failed to truly address this position for years.

16. Jets - Mike Adams - OT

17. Bengals - Quinton Coples - DE

18. Lions (from Chargers) - Alfonso Dennard - CB

19. Bears - Mark Barron - S

20. Titans - Devon Still - DT

I like Dre more than a lot of others, it's because of my racist, anti-SEC bias I guess.

The only guys I really don't want here are Coples and Jeffrey. I just don't see the "want to" when I watch either of them.

I wouldn't love OT, but you could make an argument but going forward I think Dre would make the most sense in terms of need and value.

Kirkpatrick is not my favorite corner prospect ever and I totally understand the apprehension some have about him. I can also see him being a success in the NFL due to his natural talent and the coaching he'd get here, so I wouldn't be mad at all if he were the pick.

i really liked coples at first, but literally every single article, blog, scouting report, etc i've read on him talks about his motor and character concerns

a perfect fit for cincinnati

You did what I did!!! makes me feel better. RGIII at 3 and Floyd at 7 were my off the wall picks as well.

ever since he declared and barkley and jones decided to return for their senior year, his stock just skyrocketed. he may have been the 2nd QB off the board anyway, but he just went from a potential top 10 pick to a potential top 5 pick.

This is logical and I see us doing it. I also see possibly going LT and cutting Wharton to use the $ on a defensive free agent. Then I heard Richardson say we were not going to go after free agents. SO, I am leaning toward Dre if free agency is not in the cards. I could also see us going FS (Markelle Martin) in the second round.

I am SO afraid we are going to draft Coples. On paper, he makes sense.

My question to anybody wanting Dre is this: Are you operating on the assumption that Hogan is not capable of starting at the #2?

regardless we're going to have to get deeper in the secondary to counteract the gratuitous use of 3 receiver sets and spread formations by a number of teams in this league, one of which plays in our own division.

Dunno why you wouldn't like a guy on your team that absolutely abused Dre when they went up against each other in game.

Though it would pretty much be insane to go with an offensive weapon in the first, and I suspect subsequent, rounds in this draft.

All defense, baby.
