I hope this didn't come up during this thread--I am not reading 40 posts to find out--

Godfrey is not a given. He was below average this year (way to give him $12.5 guaranteed, MARTY) and has always been average at best. He is due a $5 million roster bonus. When the powers that be study safety play, they will see that Godfrey sucked as much as Martin did, considering he was a SS.

I doubt they get rid of both safeties, so Godfrey could be safe in light of the fact that Martin's sucking was higher profile. However, Martin's salary for 2012 is $550k.

Maybe they shock everyone and cut Godfrey, for horribly underperforming his contract.

Good coverage beats pass rush this day and age in the NFL. Also if your going to pass rush, you better be in the 3-4 so your guy come free or your guys are going to be held on most plays.

this team needs to upgrade on every level of the defense. it takes pass rush and good DB's to be effective.
