i agree. the problem i have is that people act like this is going to be the limit of our offseason activity or that we are counting on them fixing the D or whatever when it's just a way to keep guys around we'd like to look at more. that's the reason some guys were put on IR late in the season when it really wasn't necessary. they wanted to make sure that they had these young guys around.

Exactly. Theey are being picked up with little or no signing bonus and the minimum contract so there really is no downside if they don't panout. With a limit of 80 for camp, the best place to look first is in your own backyard before free agency even starts. If we find one guy who adds depth it will have been a big success.
