Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

I have watched every game..and it is hard to gauge the NFL propsects from anyone on LSU's dline because there is a literal 8 man rotation...guys tend to remain fresh deep into games. A true test of a good lineman is his motor late in games when tired.

That being said...its always nice to see LSU guys on the Panthers. Lafell has worked out so far..(*knocks on hand-carved mahogony door*).

He's like the Cam Newton of DT's :)

I'd take him at 8/9

i had a tl;dr written up but this sums it up nicely.

the guy has a lot in common with newton as far as work ethic and potential. both are through the roof.

still might be a "safer" and pretty solid pick, but brockers has a lot more potential.

you look at his size (6'6 306lbs) and then consider he started out at LSU as a DE @ just under 6'6 and 265 pounds and then consider that people say he's got room to put on another 15-20 pounds and still be just as effective and athletic.

he ain't no fat boy either (#90).

the dude is just incredibly impressive physically as is and he's only going to get bigger and stronger.

the same thing can be applied to his ability as a DT. he's relatively new to DT (remember he started out as a DE) and redshirted his freshman year so he could learn the position. dude became a beast and one of the best with just one solid year of starting under his belt.

as far as his size and esp. his talent i think we are only getting the tip of the iceberg right now.

there are other picks i think would be fine where we are, but i doubt that any of them have the potential this guy does.

I didn't think he would declare. He, Poe and Cox will shake up things for DT's in the first. Brockers actually has a decent chance to be the first or second DT taken.

Anyway, my new ignorant wishlist is Brockers/Reiff/Floyd/Upshaw for our first pick.

i think it's best to stay away from Dline prospects on a good Dline....for the first round anyway.

it's too hard to see if they were the product of a good line or good on their own.

exactly
i've changed my mind regarding brockers.

from what i've seen he isn't the product of the stud Dline, more it seems he is the backbone of it.

i still think it's a good guideline to follow, but there are exceptions and brockers is one of them.
