Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

I really think Brockers is going to be the prospect to tumble in the draft. His combine is looking grim, his stats were just ok, and he needs grooming at the position. Teams are going to steer clear at the top of the draft from a guy like that. Just my opinion based on past drafts.

19 reps in the bench and a 5. In the 40 are less than underwhelming. That is one of the sloewest times and the worst lifting reps.

Does not strike me as a reakishly athletic DL. Strikes me more as someone who was NOT prepared for the combine.

Red Flags for sure....one year wonder combined with bad combine. He had better have a fantastic pro day, or I can see him definitely slipping.

Flavor of the Month DT number two is hitting the reality wall. DT is a reach at number 9. Has been and is still. If we were picking in the 20's i would have said go for it. Because that is where i actually see Still, Brockers and Poe fitting.

I wouldn't say DT is a reach at 9 at all.

I'm all for Poe at 9. I could see Brockers at 9, but he's all potential, not too much right now.

Drafting any of these DT's at #9 does not make us better at all, just another body to put in there, no thanks. At #9 need an impact player, none of these guys fits that bill.

Who's an impact player? A DE, CB? I think if any of the DTs are better than Fua/McClain then it will make our team better.

What i mean by reach has been the same from the beginning. That i did not see a Suh or Dareus. That a guy like Fletcher Cox or Jerel Worthy could actually end up more productive than a Brockers or Still. Just do not see a huge gulf of talent between whoever the flavor is at number 1 and someone like Josh Chapman of Alabama or Mike Martin of Michigan. One major reason is also i have faith in our coaching staff that McClain and Fua will be improved next year and that we could even add a developmental guy in the fourth that could rotate and compete. Add a healthy Ron Edwards and it looks like a logjam on the depth chart.

Not better enough to make a difference, not enough to be selected at 9

Poe's numbers usually get you selected in the top ten.

350 lbs, 44 reps, 4.9 40

That's better than both the top two defensive tackles last year as well as Ngata and B.j. Raji. The forty time isn't as important for DTs, but it says a lot about the athlete we are looking at. Brockers weighs 30 pounds less and ran a 5.33 unofficial.

A monster like Poe is exactly what Rivera needs. Look at what he did with Garay. A beast inside would also improve all our linebackers play. Corners don't have the same effect on a defense that at dominant DT does.

Poe has the potential to be a monster, I wish he played for a bigger school because finding tape is tough.
