Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

I saw the Georgia tape and saw a guy soaking up protection 2-3 guys and then becoming a totally disruptive force as the game wore on.

Brockers as a DT is what Cam was to QBs last year. He's already shot to the top of the boards. Why?

The same thing happened with Cam.

The guy is playing just as well as a lot of seniors plus has showed those flashes and has major upside, room to grow.

since there's not a lot of tape on youtube i thought a good way to get another look was to view hiloghts of other players.

i saw this one of cordy glenn vs. LSU. brockers did very good in most of it. i've discovered that part of the reason he stays high is because his goal is to get the pass batted down if he can't get to the QB. when he heads into blockers, though, he does put his shoulders down most of the time.

he's also great against the run.

Rivera built nasty defenses eveywhere he has been. I have complete trust in his evaluation of any defensive player or potential draftee.

Even without that Hurney is money in the 1st. I pretty much agreed with all his 1st round decisions. If both RR and Hurney decide Brockers is there guy I'm sold but to be completely honest I don't get all the hype.

The more tape I watch on this kid, the more I like him. I really hope we spend our first pick on a defensive lineman if either Brockers or Coples are available. Brockers eats up blockers and is relentless in his push. His frame is gigantic so adding 15 lbs wouldn't slow him down at all. Too early to really project, but I think he'll still be on the board at 8/9, Coples will likely be gone if he rises like I believe he will.

I'm just going off that video, in that game he sucked. Off target all but one or two throws and quite panicky. Doesn't help LSU's Dline was on him all game but still, his throws were terrible.

Yeah he wasn't the best that game, it didn't help his wideouts dropped 2 easy TDs and the LSU defense sure didn't help either.

One player that I love on UGA and have mentioned his name before is Orson Charles. If we don't resign Shockey, which I hope we do resign him, I'd give him a hard look. He'd be a perfect fit for our system, UGA likes to line him up off the line, similar to Olsen and Shockey.
