Why was Jake considered such a saint but now its OK ro bash on J Stew?

Seriously. There was so much debate on here about Delhomme and he was constantly defended. Now, we have posts cropping up about trading the second leading rusher in panthers history?! Don't get me wrong, J Stew has his supporters [me for one], but the animosity everyone fired back with when Jake was called it is nothing like this is.

I get the nature of the position is radically different, but other than that, why doesn't J Stew have as ferocious supporters as Jake did; and why did Jake detractors get bashed so much more than J Stew's detractors are now?

Im not trying to make another J Stew thread, so keep the discussion aimed towards the actual question. Have a nice day:D

I dont see these as the same thing. People bashed Delhomme because he was playing bad. People want to Trade J-Stew because he is very good and holds trade value. The idea is that we already have a good Rb in Deangelo and there is no sense in keeping two elite runningbacks on the same roster.

Wat...the smart thing would to have let Dwill walk then. No point in keeping two elite RB's on the same roster

First off the Qb always stirs more controversy than a running back, just look at the newton debate all last year.

Secondly there was a lot of bashing of Jake and his supporters. In fact the term BDJS was termed (Blind Delhomme Jock Sniffer) to deride people who supported him. I was a proud member of the BDJS group serving as it's unofficial president for years.

Honestly the negativity toward Stew is nothing like it was toward Jake particularly in 2008 and 2009. Frankly Williams has taken much more of a bashing than Stewart. I am still a member of the BDJS group but now it stands for Blind DeAngelo Jock Sniffer.

Who is bashing JStew? I have not seen ANYONE here do that.

Many question the logic in keeping two stud RB's on the roster given the amount of money that would be tied up in that position.

JStew will be a FA next year....and will likely get a significant contract offer at that time.

The question is whether the Panthers will (or can even afford) to have that much money tied up in the RB position. If the answer is no, then it would be smart to look at the possibility of traditing JStew (and get something of value)....rather than see him walk in FA for no compensation.

This and the Delhomme situation are so far apart that they are in different zip codes.
