M Street. Where 7th and McDowell meet. Had some people look at it. Hoping for some good news. Paying a mortgage and rent up here in Brooklyn sort of blows haha.

Ah okay. Your place was probably out of my price range anyway. I picked up a new 3 BR/2 BA for 139,900. The developer is paying closing costs and the city is paying my down payment so I doubt anything else in the area could top that.

wow. I never looked uptown when I was buying in 2010 but I assumed 200K was the min for owning down there. Anyway, seems like you got a great buy..

There are several 2 BR places in First Ward going for 170k or less and they have a rooftop deck with a skyline view.

170k was a little out of my comfort zone and I couldn't get the city program to cover my down payment there, so I bought a block away (I'm actually a block outside of First Ward going toward Central, but still only a 3/4 mile from Epicenter area).

There are great deals to be had out there. The housing market sucks for people who bought 5-10 years ago, but for young people like myself that are just now getting the money to purchase, the housing market rocks.

This is a bit off topic, but when is the new train/bus station supposed to be finished? When I caught Amtrak out of Charlotte about a month ago I couldn't help but notice the current one is a complete dump.

As far as I know, money hasn't been guaranteed for the project yet, so start/completion date are unknown. The current one is embarrassing though. Not only is it a dump, but it is in one of the dumpiest parts of the city.
