Ok while looking back at our past HCs this panther team has had in the past 16 years. Aside from one HC. The rest of them have similar patterns.

1. Dom Capers- He was the first HC ever for the panthers in 1995. Capers came in to be a HC for a Veteran team more then a young team. So in his first year Capers came in and set the record for the franchise for the most wins in the first year by a expansion team by going 7-9. Then in Capers second season as HC he took this panther team to 12-4 record. Going into the playoffs this panthers team beats the current SB team at that time the Dallas Cowboys sending us to the NFC Championship. But from there they lost to the Packers in the NFC Championship game.

2. George Seifert- He came in the first year and help this team improve to 8-8 that year after Capers went 4-12. But in Seifert second year he went backwards a little by going 7-9 and then in his third season he went downhill by going 1-15. The worst season ever in this panthers franchise.

3. John Fox- He came in 2002. In his first season as the panthers new HC, he took this team from a 1-15 season to 7-9 in the first season. Then in Fox second season he went on to help this team to a 11-5 record. By allowing this panthers team to go into the playoffs in the second year of John Fox and from there going through the cowboys and rams to end up in the NFC Championship once again agaist the eagles. Pretty much we defeated the eagles and won our very first NFC title and end up going to the SB to face New England. Where we pretty much lost by a FG in the last few seconds. From there Fox went on to have a few more good seasons throughout his career with panthers, but never returning to the SB.

4. Ron Rivera- Ron comes in the first season going 6-10 with a patch work Defense, but having a stud Offense for the most part and no offseason workouts to boot. Going in the offseason and into next year Ron has a very good chance of been that HC who finally gets this panther team to the SB and win it all.

As you can see from this pattern that every new HC we got aside from one of them. Each HC has gotten us closer and closer to the biggest prize of them all,the SB trophy. If the panthers history keeps repeating itself like it has in the past with new HCs going into their second year. Ron Rivera should finally finish the job and get this team first ever SB trophy and ring this coming year. If everything goes according to history. But it is a wait and see game right now. But I have faith in this team history. I believe that the SB trophy is coming to the Carolinas next season.

Well, I think it has to do more with the new QB that coaches turned to. Fox had Delhomme, and it sparked the whole team. Rivera has Newton, and we all know what he has done this past season.

Edit: The only pattern I see is we have a good coach, then bad coach, then good coach. If this is the logic, then Rivera would be a "bad" coach.

The pattern suggests we are in for another Seifert like era. Did you read your own post?

Is it really a pattern if it's just referring to 2 coaches?

lol is it really history?

I don't think there is a pattern more of a shift from proven, well known names from coaches to players to targeting hungry coordinators for coaches and building a team through the draft.

How about, "We hired two DCs that in their second year brought us a ton of success. We hired one ex-HC who flopped. Rivera was a DC, will he make that second year success story into a pattern?"

It could work.

Or "We hired all former defensive coordinators"

No this ain't about the patterns of HCs. I'm trying to point out how every HC that has come in their second year and gotten the panthers closer and closer to a SB trophy. George Seifert is throwed in there. This track record I'm trying to point is that aside from Seifert. Every other HC the panthers have had since the franchise was started. That every HC aside from Seifert in their second year has turned the team around by their second year has got into the playoffs and went straight to the NFC Championship and to the SB.

Capers- Second year as HC he had a 11-5 record. The 96 panthers went on to beat the Cowboys to go on to GB and to lose in the NFC Championship.

John Fox- Second year as HC he went on to have a 12-4 record. Then the 2003 panthers team went to the playoffs to play the cowboys, rams and in the NFC Championship the eagles. They beat the eagles to go onto the SB to loss only by 3 in the final seconds of the game.

What I'm trying to say is that if this pattern keeps up. If Ron Rivera is the HC we think he is . This coming year if everything goes according to history. Then in Ron second year just like Capers and Fox. Ron could likely help lead this team right back to the playoffs and most likely to the SB and win it all this time around. Finish the job Capers and Fox started for this franchise to bring it's very first SB trophy home to the Carolinas.

Dude two is not a pattern or a track record, especially when you have to throw out the middle one
