Lout's Mock Draft 2.0v

Mark Barron isn't a FS.

He's a run support SS and a poor man's Charles Godfrey.

You guys would do good to do your own research and stop googling walterfootball's top prospects and converting that int a mock draft.

Wish everybody would shut up about him.

In fact, I think the whole draft forum would do good to hear this message.

Like I said in the last thread, I wouldn't draft Barron to play FS.. I'd switch Godfrey back to FS where he got his 6 INTs.

I like it overall, but I don't know if I prefer CB or FS in the non trade scenario. We do have Hogan, Munnerlyn and Butler and a fat nada at FS, IMO.

I'll probably do mine tomorrow.

If Minnifield is there, there is no way I could pass him up.. he is the best zone corner in the draft.

If he isn't there, I would take a FS over any other CB.

Here's what I think

1-Dre Kirkpatrick FS Alabama

2- Jayron Hosley CB Virginia Tech

4- Nigel Bradham OLB Florida State

If Kirkpatrick is gone I think they will take Guard David Decastro. If Sean Spence drops to us in the fourth he's the pick.

Call me crazy but I don't want a DT with our first. Defensive tackles take some time to develop and Edwards will be coming back to mentor the younger guys. I think Fua and McClain need another year or two under their belts before we make a move to put them further back in the depth chart. Unless the DT is a sure thing, which I don't see any of in this particular draft, I would rather go linebacker or somewhere in the secondary.

Haven't really looked too much into the top prospects at those positions, though. Outside of Claiborne, I like Kirkpatrick but isn't his durability in question? Have never been a fan of drafting injury prone players in the first i.e. Otah.

I like Kirkpatrick as a player as well, but he tore his labrum in both shoulders.. also lets little nagging injuries effect his play.. therefore, I don't like him as a prospect. Besides, I think he will be gone before we pick..

I've seen a lot picking Devon Still and personally didn't like, but I've never seen a Penn State game. He looks really quick and strong in the video. Wouldn't mind seeing that kind of pressure every game. We will see what happens in the combine.

Keep an eye on the senior bowl and senior bowl practices. Devon Still just accepted the invite to play. If he does well, his stock could rise.

I really like this mock. Devon Still would fill a need, and immediately be an upgrade over Fua.

But, I think I'd rather see Jonathon Martin taken in that position. The more I've watched Jonathon Martin play, the more I'm incredibly impressed with him. If we were to trade down, I'd definitely be all for Devon Still. He's a man-beast. But, at 8th or 9th, I'd rather have the OL help, which would help prolong Jordan Gross' career.

Also, if we were to draft a punter, I'd really like us to see Quinn Sharp from Ok. State. The guy has been a conference All-American twice, I believe, and has won the Nation's best kickoff specialist award twice. He has over 45 yards net punting per punt in his career.

Yeah but you have to think about this we will have three OT on the roster getting paid top money. That means Jordan Gross or Jeff Otah will have to be cut. The Panthers wouldn't want to do that so early.
