Need Jamaica wedding recommendations

oh yeah... its couples only-- so you dont have to worry about all the idiot 20 somethings just down spending mom and dads money being crazy and ruining your time..

We're on the fence about couples only since we will have some people coming with us.

But if it makes it easier and more enjoyable I'll do it in a heartbeat. The only reason we're doing this in Jamaica is to make the wedding about us and for us. Traditional weddings with tons of people/family and expensive receptions are for the people attending not the couple imo. I'm not going to stress out about dropping tons of cash and dealing with logistics for what amounts to a few hours. I'm taking that money and having a blast for an entire week.

Yeah you have to be careful with that in Jamaica....the drug dealers and police work together a lot of the time.

1. Gullible tourist gets offered pot

2. Gullible tourist puchases pot at a great price.

3. Gullible tourist gets arrested minutes later.

4. Gullible tourist gets bailed out of jail by pissed off newlywed wife.

5. Gullible tourist gets out of jail for $300 and sees that money being divide up with drug dealer who sold him pot.

6. Drug Dealer and cop give a friendly wave as you walk out and offer your gullible tourist a$$ a Red Stipe as a consolation.

In all seriousness, Jamaica is beautiful and a lot of fun and the people are great. I was just there at a bad time and would love to go back one day. Just like any other foreign place, use your head and don't go anywhere you don't belong.

I've heard of that too. Told him he got lucky.

Ohhh, Jamaican wedding advice! Thought OP said Jamaican weed advice. :sifone:

Anyone know what the water is like in Jamaica? I've been told the snorkeling/scuba isn't very good because of the pollution and merky water.

the water was beautiful i went snorkeling several times and was amazed each time. I did panic once when our guide freaked and rushed us back to the boat he believed he saw something he didn't like

I hear it's amazing JR...I've never been there either, but I know quite a few people that have gone and absolutely love it!

one other question with regards to the OP...why would anyone book a trip to Jamaica in the summer time? I know y'all don't get winter like I do, but still...I don't get the whole tropical vacation in summer

Actually now that I look at it, it was Puerto Plata in the DR. Not sure what if their is much of a difference.

$120 for 5 days for 2 people all inclusive. Sure it might not be the best resort (3 stars) but for $12 a person per day I would sleep on the beach if they are giving me free drinks and food.

Had my honeymoon in Negril at an all inclusive called "Couple Swept Away". It was awesome. Be prepared to hear nothing but Bob Marley jams the whole time your there. Oh, and when we arrived our bellhop asked me if I wanted to buy a bag. I dont smoke, but the question totally caught me by surprise.

They had a huge athletic complex where me and the new wife watched the Panthers play the Foulcunts back in Dec. 04. Funny enough, the only 4 people in the whole resort who wanted to watch the game was me, the wife and a newly married couple who were Atlanta fans. Oh well, free beer and food!

Poor planning basically. We decided to get married in the summer, then started looking at venues and pricing and such. Then we just said fug it let's go to Jamaica.
