My friend is a sheriff's deputy, and you'd be surprised how few deputies are on duty throughout a large geographic area at any given time, particularly at night ... going from one end of Spartanburg County to the other can take 30 minutes or more, even with the deputy flying to get there.

Where I live there is actually no township police. Only state cops have jurisdiction in the area. Of course there isn't any state police stations in the township either. Luckily, besides the drug use in the area, not much happens here.
