The RB from Oregon Lamichael James will be a late third early fourth rd pick. He will not go early. Teams don't think he can carry the load. He is not as big as a Jahvid Best, a lot more smaller frame Lamichael has.

So. What would be so bad about this scenario?

Panthers trade w/Cleveland for 24th/25th pick giving up Stewart.

Browns just took RGIII and now have a great back to go with him.

Panthers first pick goes OT Martin who plays one or two seasons on the right side and then moves over to the left for the next 10

With the second 24/25 pick, the Panthers take Dennard CB

In the second round, the Panthers take OLB

In the fourth round , the Panthers take LeMichael James

And use the extra money that would need to go to Stew to pick up more FA help

Nothing really wrong with that, except for the fact that Minus maybe 2 Rb's in the NFL none are worth a first round pick. If Cleavland is desperate enough to make that move, then I don't see an issue with it. I'd rather have Reiff though at 8/9th overall and then at 24th I'd rather have Jenkings / OLB's in the draft. Then in the second take Minnifield/OLB depending on what happened in the first round. Then take James in the fourth if he's still there.

I really like Robinson in the early fourth. He's mean and nasty when he plays on the field. Has a good balance of size and speed. 6-3, 240 and runs around a 4.55-4.6

While we're at it let's switch Gamble to WR, Deangelo to OLB, Smitty to CB and Cam to RB.

Beason wasn't as effective at OLB, I don't like changing the position of our best players.

Do you normally use drama to make your point? Just saying there are few OLB's in the upcoming draft that could provide immediate help, therefore we might want to get one throught FA. The other alternative would be to "again" move Beason to the outside. Not quite as dramatic as you propose.

I think Beason would best be suited on the inside regardless of who would man the OLB position. I like a healthy Beason/Anderson/Mediocre player more than Beason on the outside.

Exaggeration is a good way to make a point :) But to make it more mellow, I disagree with the idea that moving Beason back out to OLB is acceptable and agree with Jesse's post above this one.

Scouts absolutely hate when coaches get involved in the draft process because they're the ones who most tend to "fall in love" with a certain player off of a single game or a workout. Whereas the scouts, in contrast, are trained to judge the full body of work.

As I wrote, few prospects would have an immediate impact. Later round guys are generally not starters
