I'm not typically one of those "its just nice to get nominated" folks but holy poo. Just to be in a legitimate conversation where your achievements are compared to those guys...

That's pretty strong company.

Left Tackles don't exactly make minimum wage

I know, when it comes to both salaries and the NFL draft they get plenty of respect. But in public and a large percentage of media opinion (and certainly media coverage) the "skill position" players always get the "best player in the NFL" superlatives.

This even applies to positions that don't get paid and/or drafted as highly as QBs and Offensive Tackles. Shane Lechler and Sebastian Janikowski will never be paid like Peyton Manning (nor should they be) but they can certainly be argued to be some of the best players in the NFL.

Hidden

The thing I realize about sports is, there are athletes and there are just players. The players are happy with just winning and doing good. Athletes are those with fire in their bellies. They are never satified no matter how many wins they get. They want to dominate their sport. That is what really separates, the MJ's, Rodgers, Tom Brady's, Tiger Woods, Kobi's, Serena Sisters, Peyton Mannings, and can hopefully add the Cam Newtons of the sports world from others. They are always hungry and they stay hungry.

Looks like LT was the reason they started tracking sacks as a stat. lol

If you've ever read the book "The Blind Side" it gives a very interesting and widely accepted theory that not only did LT redefine the rush-end position, because of the very chaos he caused he also redefined the left-tackle position as a result.

I do believe its still true that, behind quarterbacks, left tackles are the highest paid positions in the NFL on average.

Taylor, Dickerson.....Newton

I'm ok with anyway you want to arrange it.

What Dickerson did in the John Robinson offense as a Rook was quite an accomplishment, even with limited responsibiites in the tail back position.

But playing QB in Chud's offense in todays game and doing what Cam has done far surpasses ED's accomplishments imho, as great as they were.

Of course, Cam's great season will only hold water if he backs it up next year with even a better campaign.
