silliness.

you keep stewart. you keep williams. you use those two and cam to have the most dominant run game in NFL history.

bring the subject back up when williams contract is up.

hey John Fox......this is a passing team now. Williams won't play out that contract. Like better RBs before in the NFL....he will get cut before he sees the end of it.

So Williams nor Stewart could be upgraded in a Trent Richardson pick?

Look...I'm not saying we do it. The end goal is to get VALUE for our picks and get what we can when we can. Everyone knows how quickly RBs get used up/shelflife is short. If you can leverage either one of our existing RBs and replace one with a Trent Richardson along WITH compensation from another team. Why wouldn't you do it?

Think franchise building.

u build and sign players to the strength of your team. Our strength is running the ball with the threat to pass/run option. Priorities on the run game mean rb then oline then te then wr.

running the ball is a strength simply b/c of our QB. The pass essentially setup the run game as the season went along.

You sound like you are building a Fox offense.

Nope just watching every week. If were are a better passing team than a running team at this point, then I admit I know nothing about football. We couldnt run at the beginning until Cam proved he is a worthy threat to pass. Once that became established, our running game took over. I think it's pretty obvious in fact. It doesnt matter why our strength is what it is, it just is. You said it first thing.

Is it? I guess I was confused when looking at the stats and seeing us at #3 in rushing and outside the top 10 in passing. Also us being #1 in yards per rushing attempt must have confused me as well.

I got mixed up by all those facts obsuring reality I guess, happens to the best of us. :p

We simply will not be able to afford to keep both players. The writing was on the wall when Williams received such a large contract. This team is not going to power the ball anymore. We do not have a need for 2 star caliber running backs.

We will trade him this offseason for a 2nd, 3rd, or possibly in a player deal to bring in defense. It only makes sense. We will not be able to afford to resign him next year and we need to receive value from him instead of watching him walk away in FA.

hey John Fox......

take that back.

no sure where you get that this is just a passing team now. we ran the ball as good or better than any team and we didn't need to have a poo ton of carries for that to be the case. it's effective because of the passing attack, but also because of the quality of ball carriers in newton, williams, and stewart.

we will have the most dominant passing game and run game. no reason we can't have both.

williams will finish out that contract. no reason for him not to. if contract is a problem, i'm sure they can work out some kind of restructuring. the team is better off with williams and stewart around for the long haul.

yeah, you are letting Cam's unique ability skew things.

Carolina RBs

2011 - 1633 yards

2010- 1681 yards

2009 - 2419 yards

2008 - 2379 yards

2011 - was the best offense in Panther history. So yeah, we are a passing/QB driven team now.....not the other way around.
