everyone that was mentioned is reasonable cept Mario who would have to just be burning with homesick to take the discount needed for him to play here.

brent grimes and vjax probably aren't realistic either. both are top ten at their position and will demand a lot.

also, laron landry is basically a linebacker. and he plays SS. sherrod martin is a FS.

Home runs:

FS Laron Landry

RG Carl Nicks

WR Vincent Jax, Brandon Lloyd old but...

SS Tyvon Branch(move Godfrey to Fs? Eh)

DT: Garay

Really good upgrades: Lolb Manny Lawson, FS Reggie Nelson, Michael Griffin.

Not worth it: Mario Williams big money..injured.

Like to retain Shockey, Hangman, Senn

You cant argue with Mario Williams. Arguably signing him would improve the defense substantially. The defense doesnt need a bunch of role players, it needs a playmaker badly. I would keep Martin and FS, and Senn at WLB and Sign Mario plus draft picks to round out the defense. Getting Mario Williams would create a huge threat and teams wont be able to stack up on CJ, also creating more room for Beaston to roam. Just seeing the name Mario Williams on the defense will give Offensive coordinators something else to worry about. With Matt Ryan and Drew Brees in our division we need to get to the QB, and this guy is exactly what we have been missing.

Sounds great, if he can bounce back from the injury.

Despite what Hurney preaches on the radio, it would be foolish not to look at these younger guys.

I am 100% on board with building with the draft, HOWEVEA its easier to do that when you have fewer holes than we do.

Even the mighty super drafting Packers added Woodson as a free agent. Look how thats working out.

Grimes is realistic in the fact that its a division rivail, thus making him worth a little spending.

1.) Terrell Thomas/NYG- Pretty good #2 corner who could be had for cheap since he'll be coming back from an torn ACL injury.

2.) Jonathan Fanene/CIN - We need a pass-rusher at DT. Has 6 sacks as a 3-4 DE, but I think he'll be good for us.

3.) Manny Lawson/CIN - Sorta resurrected his career in Cinci. NC guy too

Aren't we over the cap? So realistically we can't really sign anybody

Like it has been said already, we can restructure some contracts and free up a load of money. The Cowboys did it a couple of years ago, and saved around 30 million in cap space, just by restructuring three players' contracts.

we'll have more cap room that people realize.

i think the cap is going to be higher than people realize because of the increase in revenue from TV rights allocated to the players.

also, we have a little cap room right now and that will actually be allowed to roll over to next year (thanks to the new CBA) and we'll be allowed to borrow some from the next year towards re-signing our vets.
