Name specific players for offseason Panther targets

We have plenty discussion on CB and the defensive line and even a good amount of linebacker discussion here and there...but I think where we should focus maybe just as strongly as anywhere else at is Sherrard Martin's replacement.

Maybe he'll be demoted or released, but I just don't see him returning to the team as a starter next year. So, in light of this I think it would be very smart to focus getting an established veteran at FS and there may be 2 really decent options in my opinion:

Michael Griffin from Tennessee

&

Reggie Nelson from Cincinnati (*I think would be a very good guy to look at)

So, no position in particular, but what players are you personally looking at this draft and potential free agency beyond the first round pick?

Brent Grimes. He would instantly fill a need, while also hampering the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta doesn't have a very good pass defense right now, and taking Grimes away from that, and only leaving Dunta Robinson, would really put a hurting on their secondary.

Also, I don't know if it's possible, but I'd like to see a run at Mario Williams. If somehow Hurney could restructure some deals to save around 25-30 million like the Cowboys did a couple of years ago, I think Mario Williams would really help out our pass rush, and make Charles Johnson even better. (The same way Mike Rucker helped Peppers free up, and then Peppers helped Rucker free up.)

Brodrick Bunkley and Antonio Garay would be nice FA pickups at the DT spot.

I'm curious if San Diego is a better spot than Carolina at this point.. If Garay had to choose, wouldn't Cam Newton and Ron Rivera be a better opportunity next year than Rivers and Norv? (assuming Turner keeps his job)

no particular order and under no delusion that we can pull all of them or even any of them off.

michael griffin...legit pro-bowl FS.

brent grimes...as stated, talented player, fills a huge need, hurts a division rival.

carl nicks...see reasons for brent grimes.

antonio garay...pro-bowl caliber NT. giddyup.

Laron Landry.

Hasn't been overwhelmingly productive past couple seasons, name is bigger than his play, experienced some injuries the past two years, may want out of Washington, etc etc.

All these are reasons to think he may hit the FA market-and yet he still is a vast upgrade over Martin.

Griffin has been inconsistent in Tenn. There is a ton of talent at CB in the draft so I'd hate to splurge our cap money in FA on one. Reggie Nelson would be good. A run stuffer like Garay or a pass rusher like Jason Jones at DT would be good too. A lot of FA WRs I'd be interested in too.

I believe LaRon is better suited at SS. Not the ball hawking FS we want. Either way I wouldn't mind him laying some lumber in our secondary :D
