Gamble played unbelievably this year, but I think J.A. really stepped up with Davis and Beason absent. The dude broke Beasons franchise season tackle record.

I don't think this guy should be MVP, but an underrated guy on this defense who I think had a great year and will just get better is Andre Neblett.

Just some numbers:

When..

Neblett started: other team averaged 93 yds rushing/gm and 20 pts/gm. We were 3-1.

Neblett played: other team averaged 116 yds rushing/gm and 24 pts/gm. We were 6-6.

Neblett didn't play: other team averaged 175 yds rushing/gm and 35 pts/gm. We were 0-4.

Gamble's role was pivotal in how offenses called plays. While Anderson had a fuggin monster year, and it is very close, Gamble gets the nod. Both had to step up and be leaders, both had teammates making it more difficult to do their jobs, and while one could argue that Anderson had to do more stepping up, you could argue that Gamble does this year in and year out (with few exceptions) without ever really getting recognized.

Who were opposing coordinators spotting on our team and saying "Yeah, you dont want to go there, Gamble/Anderson is gonna be there."??? I would have to say they were looking at Gamble.

"You have to become a terrible thought. . you have to become AN IDEAAA!" THAT was Gamble this year.

oh and Gamble's older too so you tend to wanna give it to the guy that may not be around as long.

I'd have to give the nod to Gamble. He was consistently (until the end of the year for some damn reason) matched up against the best the other side had to offer and, more often than not, he came out on top.

Anderson had a monster year, no doubt, but we're talking about MVP? Gamble.
