Silence on Peppers' ordeal

Kevin Greene

If that was the case he would have been traded by now.

How do you make that connection?

Anyway, the Panthers are prohibited from making any trades or talking to other teams until Peppers signs his tender. So what they think of him, at this point, is irrelevent to any trade ideas since they are currently not allowed to be active players.

1) 29 years old is another way of saying "in his prime." 2) He was pretty vocal this year, regardless there is no requirement for every great player to be a vocal leader...teams are made of all sorts. 3) He's only suspected of mailing it in by fans...however, the people that actually watch and analyze tape (i.e. his teammates and coaches) say differently. 4) No, he has not demanded big money, actually he turned it down. Sure, he'll eventually get paid, but his actions prove it is about more than the money. 5) He wants to be primarily a pass rusher, which he has quite a bit of experience at. Too much is being made of the 3-4 OLB idea. He knows how to pass rush, no matter where he is coming from.

I appreciate your optimism but I do not share it in this instance.

you should market those rose colored glasses of yours:)

I could easily see the silence meaning that Peppers and his agent got what they want and they are just waiting for the deal to go through. I can imagine the Panthers telling Carey and Peppers to keep their mouths shut and they will get what they want.

Under this scenario, it would make sense that Peppers won't sign his tender until draft day when the deal goes through to prevent the Panthers from working out some other kind of deal (that Peppers might be forced to take if he wants out bad enough and the deal he likes falls through).

If he's not traded by the time the first round is over then I don't see what incentive the Panthers have to trade him this year... they could just as easily keep him and trade him next offseason? The only advantage to trading him this year is the cap room it would free up, but I doubt the Panthers have much in mind as far as signing FA's at this point anyways...

His agent can and if Peppers was so great teams would be willing to pony up the 2 first round picks.

First of all, you were responding to what I said about the Panther's opinion, I didn't say anything about the rest of the league. Secondly, of course his agent can negotiate with teams, but the Panthers have no control over what he can and will do, and what the team thinks of Peppers is irrelevent to what Carey is doing about facilitating a trade.

Also, teams don't give up two first round picks anymore. Especially when the baseline for trading for a stud DE has already been established. Not to mention, we have no idea about what negotiations are going on right now. So using a lack of trade by now as a basis for trying to prove Peppers takes plays off is without merit....particularly 2 weeks before the draft.

What you say makes a lot of sense if Peppers and Carey were smart. So far, in this process, they haven't been...

you should have an open mind and read it. decent insight from an agent involved in a situation just like this last year.

wait...who am i telling this to? open mind?

Well to be fair, there is close-minded like myself and other pessimists on here; open-minded like many on here; then "legs-wide-open like a prostitute" open-minded like yourself...where in Hurney could inform us they've signed an actual piece of crap (one of his own turds after a hardcore Taco Bell feast) to QB and you's try to spin it in a positive light.

like i did with carr? sorry, didn't happen. i didn't like it then and i didn't do anything to praise the move. i did try to be optimistic but i had very little doubt that the damage had been done before he got to us. nice try, though.

i wanted them to get rid of trgo and henning long before they were, same with foster, morgan, colbert...like i did with fox and hurney during the '07 year. they did a lot to regain my confidence but they are still on the hot seat. all they did last year was bought themselves time. sorry....not the organization nut hugger you would like to envision.

I wasn't on this board when we had Carr so I wouldn't know. I just like giving you a hard time since you like giving others a hard time.
