Coach Rivera said we're missing a scat back..

How many obscure positions are we going to pick up? QB that runs, a scat back, 2 good running backs? Nothing wrong with any of them, but how about we just improve the core parts of a football team before trying to stack with weird skilled players.

Link? Didn't see anything about this mentioned....

it was said on Fox when they were discussing Sproles. Rivera said that he wanted one or something.

I'd love to get James but he won't fall down to number 9

you joking right??? not only will he be at number 9, but he will possibly be there in round 2 at pick 9, LaMichael James' size is going to be an issue with teams, i think round 2 is his destination, likely bewteen picks 3-15 in round 2 James will be picked.

Why would we even consider taking a rb in the 1st? and he would easily be there.

we wont get a back in round one and he WILL be there at pick 9 in round 1.

Did he really say that?

Wow. We already don't involve Stewart or Williams enough as it is.

it had to do something with Sproles or something. to be honest, i would not mind having James, but i doubt we get him, hahaha, but if we did get him, i would not be shocked to see either Stewart or Williams traded, i think Goodson will get released/traded too, i personally ship him to Denver (Goodson that is).

well, with James the panthers passing offense would be that much scarier, but honestly, i dont see a scat back being picked high, we will likely (and should) get a CB and/or DT first then get a CB/DT in round 2 then in round 4 (think we dont have a 3rd if i am right) get a backup linebacker.

Clearly Rivera isn't saying we need another guy to split carries with, he's just looking for a versatile player who they feel comfortable with at different positions including running kicks back and receiving out of the back field. Wiliiams and Stewart would still be the primary ball carriers, just a change of pace and a little more insurance incase something happens to one of them.

I have no problem investing a latter round pick on another running back if Rivera thinks he can be an all-purpose guy. Especially if it means the end of the failed AE experiment.

yeah, if true he's in love with a Sproles type and might think DWill and JStew are too similar, so...

Doesn't necessarily mean one of them is out.

I could see getting a number three back who also serves as a return specialist.

And yes, it was reported that he said this, by the sideline reporter to be specific.

I think the RB part of it is being taken a little too seriously. Sproles is more of a receiving back than anything and a quick change of pace runner not a consecutive handoff guy (unless he's playing the Panthers).

Technically you could have a WR be an all purpose threat just as much as any RB.

Or if your Hurney, you draft a QB for that.

We need a return man that can handle another position as well, adding a roster spot for depth.
