A team has asked permission to interview Chud.

My thoughts on Chud, good OC coordinator who assessed what Cam is and tweaked his scheme to accommodate that.

However some of his play calling leaves you scratching your head.

So instead of rushing to overpay him, if he wants to follow his dream of being a HC now, let him go.

Just hire the right guy, I'm sure there are capable guys who could utilize Cam's skill set.

Cant wait for Chud to leave so people can finally see who made who in this Cam and Chud relationship. You can call the best play in the world but if your QB can't run it and make it work, and 50-60% of what we did on offense was improvisational, then you're going to find out really quick. If Chud leaves for Jacksonville, he'll be clicking his heels for Carolina by the end of preseason. Not saying that Chud didn't have anything to do with Cam's rapid ascension, but to give him almost total credit for it is.. inaccurate. We'll be fine either way.

Dumb analogy. Everyone dies, not everyone gets hired as a head coach in the NFL. I think he will be gone but it is not as sure as dying by a long shot.

As for sooner versus later, it is hard to say. He might not get a job and could cool off or he could be the next hot thing, or like Rivera, interview for several jobs before he gets one. It likely depends on how hot people think he is as this point and whether they need to jump before someone else tries to hire him. He could get hired right away or could interview poorly and not get a job anywhere.

You might have overanalyzed my statement. It was merely about the inevitability you were trying to highlight; obviously it is inevitable that he will leave but that does not mean that it is logical for it to be this year.

Honestly I hope he gets a HC job. I wish anyone the best. :)

What if Cam does well with the new OC? Would the new OC also get tons of credit?

I agree somewhat. The hand-wrangling over this is becoming semi-ridiculous, people are acting like Chudsinki leaving will sink this entire offense.

I mean, what happened after Derek Anderson's pro bowl year? They had a very mediocre offense WITH Chud the second time running, so this guy is not some coordinating savant.

The dude wants to be a head coach, let him realize his dream. We DO have a special QB, we DO have a QB that wants to work and so I think we will be fine.

What we need to find from hence and maintain is an offensive staff that remains committed around Newton going forward...much like the Colt model around Peyton Manning.

Chudzinski was always talked about in coaching circles as a future hire, we probably need to find someone who is less ambitious and is willing to forge a relationship with Cam.

Cam will do well no matter who we have at OC. He has already proven that he can master any offense rather quickly and produce at a high level. With that said, I would like to see him in this system once he has a full offseason. He is only going to get better.

New owner, lots of bucks, top 5 draft pick to get a top QB or rehab Gabbert, top 10 defense. Honestly that job is better on the surface from the one Rivera took when he came here. The biggest issues are that with a new owner you don't know what he is going to be like and they really struggle to fill the seats.

I forgot about new ownership, the latter was more along the lines of what I was thinking... but with RGIII as mentioned above, that would put butts in the seats..

Everyone's talking as if Chud is the #1 candidate for Jack/Tampa, etc. , he's not. Asst. coaches at NO, GB, ATL have much better/longer resumes than Chud. Rivera had the #1 defense with the Bears and it still took 9 interviews to get a HC job. Chud may be an offensive guru, but to run a team, delegate, do administrative work, be a media rep, etc. requires different skills. These attributes are what will be the determining factor in comparing him against other candidates

This board gets loaded with calls for chuds head after a loss but get up in arms at the possibility that he may leave lol.

I'm more concerned with who we could find to replace him. Everyone is norv turner this norv turner that, imo the chargers will keep him around because what savior is out there for them that will do better?

I'm too lazy to research it myself but how many decent established offensive coordinators are out there that we could get in this event?

Jeff Davidson scared people.. fans see a bright spot and do not want to lose it right away. sounds reasonable to me.
