A team has asked permission to interview Chud.

Gabbert's receivers were laughable, I felt sorry for him....every Jax game I watched there were mutltiple dropped passes. He has maybe the best RB in the NFL in MJD, add Justin Blackmon and he has some talent around him. Gabbert was WAY better than Clausen and didn't hae the targets Clausen did....his numbers weren't terrible.

We also saw how fast a decent defense can become pooty.

And Gabbert sucks. Quit defending him. :p

Sucks yes, but "Clausen esque" is totally wrong.

You are right about defenses but the fact remains theirs is strong. Also that can take a couple years - our defense hasn't been good since 2008 really, maybe 2009, but it certainly wasn't good last year either, just better than it is now.

I can't imagine for the life of me why Chud would go to Jax... why sabotage your future?

New owner, lots of bucks, top 5 draft pick to get a top QB or rehab Gabbert, top 10 defense. Honestly that job is better on the surface from the one Rivera took when he came here. The biggest issues are that with a new owner you don't know what he is going to be like and they really struggle to fill the seats.

Most receivers are terrible when your QB doesn't throw the ball anywhere near them and is scared of the pass rush.

And you guys act like we actually have good receivers. We have one. Olsen is okay, Shockey is over the hill, Legudu sucks, Gettis didn't play, Laffell is average.

QBs make receivers look better than they are. Steve Smith was a non-factor last season. This year he is a pro bowler.

Chud is going to leave it is just a matter of now or later.

That's like saying: you are going to die it is just a matter of now or later.

Obviously it is inevitable but that doesn't mean that it has to be sooner rather than later.

While this is true I don't think you can discount our receivers totally, especially Smith.

Hell, Smith pulled off similar seasons with an average QB.

I think you have to give Lafell a little credit and Smitty a lot. :p

Am I the only one who thinks Cam will be fine? For all we heard this season, it apparently wasn't that much of an issue for him to learn this offense. I'm sure whichever new guy we get will have ties to this 'Air Coryell' type of passing attack anyway.

Not to mention Cam will have gained experience in reading NFL defences and have his accuracy and decision making improve as a result. Chud was a good playcaller, but there were instances, a lot of them in fact, when the offense stalled in the second half because of inconsistent play-calling.

Cam is a special player, and I think he made Chud more than Chud made him. He WAS able to call these different plays because of Cam's skillset, and I'm sure any O-Coordinator worth his salt will have taken advantage of that.

Receivers do help no doubt about it. But it isn't an even give and take like some people pretend like it is. QBs make receivers look good more than receivers make QBs look good. And vice versa.

I don't buy into the "Jake/Cam is only good because he has Steve Smith" or the "Dalton is only good because he has AJ Green" malarkey.

But I do think Peyton, Brady, Brees, and Rogers makes all their receivers look better than they really are. And Gabbert and The Golden Calf of Bristol makes their receivers look like garbage.

Dumb analogy. Everyone dies, not everyone gets hired as a head coach in the NFL. I think he will be gone but it is not as sure as dying by a long shot.

As for sooner versus later, it is hard to say. He might not get a job and could cool off or he could be the next hot thing, or like Rivera, interview for several jobs before he gets one. It likely depends on how hot people think he is as this point and whether they need to jump before someone else tries to hire him. He could get hired right away or could interview poorly and not get a job anywhere.

My biggest concern is that our offense was so unique and innovative with the counter options, pistol formations, and read option looks that changing it up is a little scary.

Chud really tapped into inventing ways to utilize Cam's talents. I just don't want to lose that.
