I don't think we could get all those guys, but I would be ecstatic if we got both Nelson and a healthy Thomas. Gettis will have a strong season next year.

Terrell Thomas will be cheap because of his injury. No one knows what kind of Thomas they getting... Most players will only agree to 1 year deals due to cap space increase in 2013.

I see us making a run in FA for WR, S, and CB... Because Hurney and Rivera tried to address these 3 positions through FA last year but failed. I see us making a run for WR Dwayne Bowe, CB Terrell Thomas, and S Reggie Nelson. I also expect our #1 pick to be an OT with Jordan Gross turning 32 before 2012 kickoff. After that, we need draft young players for depth.

I would be pretty surprised to see Bowe here. He's going to command top dollar, and that's not Hurney's style. Then again, who would have predicted signing Shockey and trading for Olsen last year at this time?

I think Bowe will get 5 years $51m with about $25 guaranteed. So that's $10m a year. I see him making around $5m his first year and then increase to follow. Salary cap projected to increase by like $30m in 2013 so its possible.

Say you're right, and assume that Hurney finds the cap space. Do you really think we double down on offense instead of trying to get more veteran talent on defense? Particularly with a defensive coach?

We have 19 players on IR. It's not like we missing whole bunch of talent, we just gotta stay healthy. There is a chance Hogan might actually start next season so our secondary can be set except Free Safety position. Free safety can be addressed through FA. Hurney invested A LOT into DT position last season so I highly doubt he will spend big again. The big issue our offense had is a ability to stretch the field. Smitty still has his quickness but no the speed, plus Smitty is turning 33 in 2012. Hurney wanted to sign Santonio Holmes but Jets got him. Nothing against Gettis but Hurney is looking else where. We need to stretch the field so our TEs can get open and run game can improve.

Charles Johnson (CAR) – Julius who? The Panthers replaced Peppers with 2007 3rd round pick, who quietly reached double digit sacks and surpassed Peppers’ sack total this year. Re-signing Johnson should be the team’s top priority to keep the pass rush respectable. If he plays the market, Johnson will find many suitors looking to tap into his pool of youth and potential.

Not a very impressive list. Hope there are some cap casualties during the offseason. Between this and the draft the defensive pickings are pretty slim.

CJ did not do too bad this season. He got double-teamed pretty much the whole season and he still managed to rack up 9 sacks.

I wouldn't mind a good FA possession receiver. assuming we don't get a WR in the draft. I know Gettis will be back but honestly I think we could improve with another reciever.

I know we won't sign a big name FA but maybe we can get a vet min player who can play a key back-up role or compete for a starting job. We could probably get a good safety, Corner, Defensive or offensive linemen or line backer for a good deal.

Honestly I would love for us to get a FA Tight end or draft one if we can get a stud in the mid to late rounds. I like shockey but he is getting old and seemed to not show any effort today. Olsen sucked the 2nd half of the year as well. I like Barnidge and he could end up being our #2 TE but I would like to have a good TE on the roster in case he isn't that guy.

Okoye has had a good season in Chicago, wouldn't mind giving him a chance.

I like Sione Pouha from NYJ, and seeing how the Jets are quickly going down the wrong road, he may jump ship for a fair price. Would deffinately fix our swinging door issue in the middle of that line.
