I have been thinking if we do go defensive line i would rather just go all out and upgrade the whole line. Take Couples in the first and look for Poe or Thompson in the second. A talented defensive line could elevate the whole defense and address other positions later on the in the draft and free agency. At the end of the day were not gonna get far if we cant pressure Rodger, Brees, Stafford no matter who is in the back seven. I think its the safe most reliable way of improving the defense at this point in time.

i personally hate taking a DE high you really need to be committed to learning the position to be good. Pretty much every DE that has came out the past couple years have busted hard and i just don't see coples as a JPP or Demarcus Ware type player

Possible Trade Partners Dallas if Richardson is still available. Dallas has the WR's but the running game is abysmal.

I am of the belief with Hogan, and the other defensive players we have on IR coming back we will be much better in 2012 than this season.

I am all for BPA with our #8 or 9. Hopefully our luck will be better than Miami and we will get #8.

If you were to force me to select a position (though I like McClain and Fua) Defensive Tackle follow very closely with Cornerback/Safety.

I'm torn whether we should take Reiff or the best defensive player available. Gross appears to be losing a step and should be moved to Right Tackle if Reiff is selected and would likely have an immediate impact Left Tackle that is young to protect Cam.

Depending what happens in Free Agency I definitely believe in selecting Reiff but if Reiff is not the pick I will have faith in Hurney especially with his history of first round draft picks.

We are outside the top 5 marquee picks. What you can get at 8/9, you can probably get at 12-14. No mans land and nobody wants to trade with you. Nothing special to trade for at our slot. BPA it is

At 8 or 9 Richardson will probably be still available. We might be able to get a team to bite and pick up an additional pick along the way.

I know we took our lumps this season but Keisler, Shipley, Neblett, Senn, Kearse and a handful of others got valuable playing time which IMO will pay huge dividends next season. I believe Fua and McClain were set down to give some of those guys a chance to play. I think Keisler is going to be a perfect fit in the DE rotation and our DT's when all healthy will create a very tough DT rotation. These players are why I agree with you. IF we cannot trade the pick I would be content with BPA. Other than QB.

Both of the offensive linemen from Stanford, Still, Jerel Worthy, and maybe Alfonzo Dennard are probably all possibilities in a trade down in the first and all make sense. But in the second round, I'd really be pleased with Lavonte David, the Nebraska linebacker. I think he's a better player than Zach Brown and Vontaze Burfict.

Why does everyone think this. A good number of those players, have repeat injuries and some injuries, you just cant come back from, like Thomas Davis. We can not be complacent we the injury prone players we have and go out and find players that are as fragile? Thomas Davis, is done, kaput, the fat lady has sung, the 5th and final golden ticket has been found. As shitty as it sounds, lets not bring him back to sit on IR again next year.

Davis,,,,gotcha. Don't think we are going to cut the cord because his contract had injury clauses attached to it. So we don't lose much by bring him back. I think they will give him the chance to comeback one more time. #4 and he is retired. I would believe.

Who Else? Barnidge, Fua, McClain, Beason? You said a good number and I only can think of TWO. The other being Candya$$ Otah. Davis and Otah don't qualify as a "good number".
