"steve smith needs maturity pills"

I think there is nothing more defeating than knowing if you don't score every single drive, you have no chance to win...

people have this crazy expectation to get results no matter the circumstance. It's nice in theory and may allow you to sleep at night, but the fact of the matter is you don't go from 2-14 and expect this team to show 4 full quarters of anything...

I expected flashes of this teams future.. many expected 4-5 wins at best. Our team came out ready to fight, but just like every other aspect for this team: the flashes are merely flashes and until we have a 4 quarter team on the field, flashes are all you are going to get this year.

Next year, my expectations are greater. Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel the necessity to go extremely negative because my expectations are unreasonable..

I try to keep everything in perspective.

my question to you is why not just be patient and understand that there is a good possibility that if this team gets the right pieces in place, which you cannot judge a tenure before it's happened, the sky is the limit..

so yes, I did see my sig in the team today.. I also saw the reality that no matter how well the offense played, Brees was going to light up that D..

Post of the year.. Honestly!

Guys upset this season must have been watching another team last season. I mean this team is making strides and you still have to see some guys making plays out there..Applewhite, Senn, Keiser, even Nelson looked decent which bodes well for depth and special teams. Hell, I still like Butler and want to see Hogan off a full offseason.

One season...one with a lockout as well ...Rivera, Chud, Shula is an awesome coaching tandem here.

How many seasons did it take for GB to be where they were..Mccarthy was on the hot seat three yrs ago.

McD...ill wait to judge(not a real fan of his sugar blitz which leaves the DTs extra wide.. Yet to see it really get to anyone.)

Lets get a draft, free agency! (which I think we will entice a name or two this season) and full offsason. Rivera has had a no.1 defense at two teams! It took him a couple of years to get there. So just chill!

So it's unreasonable to want a non talented defense to blitz a very talented offense when said defense has nothing to play for?

Its unreasonable to expect toughness from players not named Steve Smith?

The future looks bright and this year was much more enjoyable and fun than last year, but there are still legit concerns to talk about.

Sorry I just don't think it's "crazy expectations" for a defense that is supposed to be an "attacking" defense to umm...actually attack.

it's entirely unreasonable to expect a team to pull off a blitz with these backup LBers who can neither shed a block, which we watched ALL DAY today... like I said to someone else who wanted to see more pressure, there is a fact that exists and that fact is Brees is going to rip any defense apart who has shitty coverage and shitty rushers who cannot shed blocks..

damned if you do, damned if you don't..

when you have players who are backups at best, yeah, I'll gladly wait to see what happens next year before I over-react and start judging coaches..

I also find it extremely unreasonable to totally discount how obvious it was our defensive QB (Beason) has been needed just to keep the players on the field in check.. I mean, I can only assume people neglect or are unaware of nuances in the game when they just want to be quick to blame a coach... The very start of the game was the most eye opening..

there's so much more going on the field than some simple "our coaches suck".. Especially when our HC has went to different locations and posted top 2 defenses under different philosophies..

For some strange reason I'd rather be reasonable (as you say I am) and see what these coaches can do under different circumstances before I make any rash judgments...

This league is far too competitive to make assumptions without reality being the primary judge.. When it's obvious Rivera, McDermott, Chud are ineffective at their job: leave them behind. To come anywhere close at this moment to say that you know the answer to that question is incredibly premature..

people have been raving over this defense the last 5 games... and I've been laughing all along.. when teams win, people glaze over and base that win on their happiness. when teams lose, people glaze over and base that loss on their disappointment. fact is our defense has been the same most of the year. we start off competitive at first and then fall off in the 2nd half..

Texans game was the most hilarious around here... how many receivers dropped passes to kill drives and yet our D was good? LOL... right.

Today was the most obvious sign Jon Beason is sadly missing on game day.. there's so much more going on the field than some simple "our coaches suck".. Especially when our HC has went to different locations and posted top 2 defenses under different philosophies..

I find it 1000x more reasonable to see what these coaches can do under different circumstances before I make any rash judgments... This league is far too competitive...

Texans game was the most hilarious around here... how many of their receivers dropped key passes to kill drives and yet our D was good? LOL... right.

The fans that support Sissy Boys rant at an opposing teams coach, are the worst kind of fans.

His actions were those of a spoiled little boy and those defending him are no better. I am not a Saints fan and could give a rats butt about the Panthers, but as a father and a Scout master, spending my spare time trying to be a positive influence on tomorrow’s leaders, I detest actions like those of Mr. Smith..If you are an adult, you would too.

It is a dang shame that adult men get so caught up in a GAME that they would defend Smith’s immature behavior.

Mr. Smith does not play with "passion". He plays like a professional, and acts like a spoiled little girl

The worst part of the game was Joe Buck saying Steve Smith has regained the title of the best Steve Smith in the NFL.

that pissed me off but so did both announcers. both were saints appologist when the panthers offense did anything.. talking about vilma being out. when saints scored, there was no mention of our guys being out. im tired of most media in general.
