We are set at DT for next season.

I highly doubt the team looks at DT at all, either in FA or the draft. Edwards is coming back, Fua, McClain and Kearse has a full off season. On top of that Shirley and Neblett have looked good. I'd actually be really surprised if they brought in a FA or drafted a DT at this point.

I think we bring in a veteran and let the other six or so fight for 3 or 4 spots. Here is what I would do:

Draft a LOT. When will we be in position to replace Gross again (Top OLTs are gone by the 12th pick most of the time)? Then play the T at RT for a year, or switch Gross to the right side. If Otah comes back, he becomes a RG-better on the knees. (I swear I am getting to DT). Bell showed promise, but as a G, not a T. Move him inside too. If Schwartz comes back where he left off, let him compete with Bell, Z. Williams, and even Hangartner for the LG position. Cut Wharton and his $6 million salary. Do not re-sign Bernadeau and his $1 million salary.

Spend on a solid starting DT in free agency. An established player. We cannot win with what we know we have, and we cannot bank on what we thing the potential is. We need at least 1 feared DT to draw double teams, keeping OL off Beason and Anderson.

So by drafting an OT, we actually beef up DT better than if we tried to draft another DT.

Just a theory, but before you all scream treason for cutting Wharton, remember that he was poor in pass protection, as was Hangartner. Imagine what Cam would do without people in his face.

I still think we bring in 1 Vet. Can't count on Edwards to stay healthy...or even been good! Plus Fua didn't show anything at all when he played this year. Yes Kearse and Shirley have played well, but we don't know if they can last a full season and if their play late in the season is an anomaly. One of them is going to be put on the PS anyway even if we dont bring in anyone else. But even if we do, they both can be put there.

And according to your results logic, Dalton and The Golden Calf of Bristol are better than Cam because their efforts result in wins.

Not talking about winning games. I'm talking DL play; about rushing yards & overall D. Sorry that you misunderstood. Yours Dalton/The Golden Calf of Bristol comparison is funny, but inaccurate to what I was actually saying.

Is winning games not a result? You said the important part is the result. Since winning games is a result it is completely accurate. Nice try tho.

Seriously? That is ignorant. DL play is judged by the results of stopping the run & pressuring (incl. sacking) the QB.

Are QBs not judged by results of leading their team to victory? And I was unaware only dline was responsible for stopping the run and getting sacks. I thought linebackers and sometimes safeties played a huge part in that.

DE - Charles Johnson - Great Player

DT - Sione Fua - Trash

DT - Terrell Mcclain - Trash

DE - Greg Hardy - Average to Above Average

LB - James Anderson - Great

LB - Jon beason - All-Pro

LB - Thomas Davis - Pro-Bowler

CB - Chris Gamble - Pro-Bowler

CB - Amalgamation of Terrible Players - Sickening

S - Charles Godfrey - Solid Starter

S - Sherrod Martin - Worst Safety in the NFL?

Alot of upgrades we could have. We NEED to replace Sherrod Martin dude is singlehandedly giving the game to the Saints, probably 250 yards of their offense has come against his coverage or lack there of.
