RG3 should be the first pick...

Alex Smith may not have actually had the talent to be a #1 pick but I do believe he was much better than he showed most years. As Rayzor and Woodie have said, he really was facing constant coach switches, and they rarely seemed interested in developing him. I mean just look at what happened to the guy last year, it was crazy how his coach would just yank him, scream at him, put in his other quarterback, yank the other quarterback, scream at him, put Smith in, and repeat every week...

I understand that Alex Smith was in a bad situation, and he finally got a decent Offensive Minded person in charge, it really effected the way he played.

However, I think that he also compares very much to Andrew Luck. Both had mobility coming out of college, both seem to benefit from a dominate running game, and they both seem to be really smart, stand-up guys.

One thing that is also troublesome, to me, about Andrew Luck (and I brought this up last year around the same time) is his knee brace. Why does the kid wear a knee brace?

Alex Smith isn't really that great... There is a reason why Akers has done so well, its because Alex isn't that accurate enough especially in the Red Zone.

He is what people like to call a "game manager". Not saying he's crap but that he'll never be elite. Harbaugh deserves a lot of credit in realizing this & making the offense to mask most of Alex's short comings.

The other HC/OC never put too much effort it making the offense suitable.

That's his listed size. But colleges are notorious for exaggerating a players size. I've heard a few analysts wonder aloud if he is actually anywhere near as big as Baylor claims, so the combine will be big for him. In the NFL, the difference between 6' and 6'2" is huge for a QB.

He is a lot closer to 6'2" than 6'

I think lucks ceiling is Tony Romo or get lucky and win a SB like ELi. To me, the biggest problem is that he gets rattled when he gets hit. He doesn't have a great arm and all of the people saying he is the best prospect since elway are saying it because every analyst is saying "he is the best prospect since elway" If you saw both luck and RG3 play, who would you say is the most dominant if you didn't have preconceived notions about who is the best. Hell, Barkly looked better than luck when they played this year head up. To live up to the hype, luck would have to have a better season that cam had this year, which was not only the greatest season by a rookie by far, it was one of the greatest season by a quarterback ever!

The best way to sum up the hype behind luck is this. They said cam was not even in the same class as luck. They said luck was the perfect QB last year. I promise you he wont come close to what cam did in his rookie year. Nuff Said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell of an exaggeration don't you think?

Nope. Will be over 4k passing with 20+ TD. 700 rushing and second in the league in rushing TD (including RB's) with 14. Ne QB has ever come close to anything like that. Even then, stats don't really show how he controls the game because of the miriad of things that he can do and he puts defenses in a bind. I don't know if you have ever played on defense but it is all read and react. The problem that cam presents is all of the reads that he forces you to make as a defender.

Look at the stats of the TB game and then watch the game. The stats don't tell the story. He makes this offense indefensable in that it is a deep passing/ prostyle/ inside zone option/triple option offense with a power running game. After all of that you have to worry about the QB scramble. Only QB in the league that can run it is Cam. How do you gameplan for that? Why do you think marginal recievers(excluding smitty) get so wide open. Usually when you get game film on a player you are able to limit him. Cam just gets better though because of all af the things that he does especially with the playbook expanding. If he plays the exact same way next year without the rookie int's that he threw he might pass for 5k and rush for near 1k because will will posess the ball more. HE BREAKS THE MOLD! Now the defense well...............
