Funny Bengals forum thread on Dalton and Cam

Its amazing how closed minded people can be. I have to argue with people at work about Cam all the time. People tell me Cams not a leader and he just plays for stats. I try to argue with them and they just tell me every other QB like manning, Brees, Aikmen, Montana all were leaders who lead their team as rookies and Cam isn't close to being like them.

I'm used to deal with these kind of people, no surprise to me.

I think he was replaced because of that massive arm injury/surgery he had. Nothing really to do with his leadership.

Steve Smith is a great, great receiver. One of the best of our era and probably the greatest Panther of all time.

Due to a bunch of stuff out of his control (being the only real WR on his team for many years, wasted seasons with backup-quality quarterbacks who couldn't get him the ball, his team completely falling apart around him in 2010) he still has an uphill battle for the Hall.

This is also one of the few times I've ever seen a fan of another team refer to Smith in a fashion other than "that guy who punched his teammate".

Rule of thumb on Smitty:

When article or conversation is about Smitty, he's that thug who punches his own teammates.

When article is about Cam, he's that HoF Receiver that is bailing Cam out on some horrible throws.

That rule is sadly pretty accurate when looking at comments on articles on espn and other sports media websites.

The Bengals.com fan forum is like the Bleacher Report of message boards. I know this because I used to work in the Bengals front office (minor position held) and we would read those forums just to laugh at some of the things said and thread topics.

weak QB play in the AFC....and he is the 1st alternate. Better QB play in the NFC and Cam is the 1st alternate.

Have you watched Dalton this year....he hasn't impressed in recent weeks. Early he was solid but did get a bump b/c people expected nothing from him. He has had a very solid year but he isn't the best rookie on that team.

Agree. He's done it with one great wideout, a rookie at that and a bunch of mid-level guys who couldn't start on the Panthers offense.
