Tom would say during Indy 500 Qualifications when ever a driver took the green flag to qualify.

One job I always wanted when I was growing up was IMS Historian Donald Davidson. (He may out live me!) As a kid growing up in Southern Indiana, they would fill the gaps in qualifying. (WIBC radio would carry all 4 days of Indy Qualifying.)

The Tom would add in his Baratone voice, "It's a Fast One!" If the time beat the previous qualifier. Or, "It's a New Track Record!" (Drivers and crew loved to hear that one!)

For a long time he also did sports for Channel 6 (One of the Indianapolis TV stations.)

He took over for Sid Collins, who was the long time "Voice of the 500".
