Connor to test free agent market

Can't blame him, I would do the exact same thing... he knows he's not taking Beason's job and he wants a chance to play. With TD's knee problems, will be interesting to see if they move Beason to WLB and let Conner start at MLB to try to maximize the talent they have on the roster.

I think you minimize Beason moving him to WLB....and Dan is nothing special. Good guy to have on your roster but not the type player you can justify putting on the field if it means Beason takes a hit

We did that in 2010 and Beason's production dropped dramatically. We need a true WLB. Beason should play in the middle.

In a way yes, but you also open up new opportunities for Beason to make plays by freeing him up and making him responsible for only one side of the field. I would go back to the Derrick Brooks example... in this zone-blitz scheme Beason's athleticism might be better used on the edges.

True, but his production dropped in large part to the adjustments he had to make moving from MLB to WLB. Keep in mind that Beason played WLB in college. I do understand that the move to WLB would inherently limit him in some ways due to coverage responsibilities, etc... but it also opens up new opportunities to use him more aggressively in blitz packages, etc.

but I don't think that plays to his strength. Thomas Davis when healthy is simply flat out a much better WLB than Beason could be imo. We need to find more talent at LB. Beason is perfect where he is.

if you gave me a great team and gave me the option of a healthy TD or Beason to play WLB.....for them to have a season to work in the spot and there is no learning curve playing into it......give me TD.

No. Keep Beason at his true position, blitzing is not his strength neither is rushing the passer.
