I hope Chud doesn't leave...

in other words, football on the NFL level isn't that simple.

I would say that the success of Cam and The Golden Calf of Bristol this year to a lesser degree kind of disproves that. I think the league was assumed to be more complicated in some regards than it had to be. It was just a matter of a team having the guts to give it a shot in regards to adapting the spread type zone read to the professional level with the right quarterback to execute it.

A quarterback that can run the ball as well as Cam does and can also throw the ball as well as Cam does is virtually indefensible. All that Chud or any offensive play caller had to do was not get in his way and try to force him into a tiny box of an offense that was "traditional", and thereby restrictive.

I am no offensive expert so it hard to know just how good Chud is at this point. But the experts seem to sing his praises and believe him to be very bright and innovative. So I will take their word for it. I don't know where his ambitions lie but hope he stays here for another year or two at least. Can anyone else run our offense effectively? I think so. Then again I am no expert so what do I know???

Other teams picking up your coaches is a testament to what you are doing so obviously if he gets opportunities it is because of what we are building here. I remember the same kind of talk about Davidson after 2008 so who knows how serious it is at this point.

I think the difference with Cam and The Golden Calf of Bristol versus quarterbacks in the past is that traditionally an OC had a system which he teaches the rookie and then expect him to adapt to it like with Mike Martz for example. Regardless of the quarterback's skill set he is put into aa system and expected to execute it.

What I see with Cam and even moreso with The Golden Calf of Bristol, the OC is adaping the system to what the Qb can already do so it is easier to learn and master. As the QB develops, the system is modified becoming more complex as the QB can handle it. That is likely part of the issue, it isn't just the plays or complexity but the way in which Chud has developed Cam and nurtured him in a Qb friendly system which maximizes his skill level. You mention that this is "all you have to do". If this was so easy, everyone would be doing it but they aren't. You also have to know what to run and when. It must be one of those things that looks much easier to do than it really is.

These rumors about Chud leaving does it have any basis? I mean he has to get a job offer 1st right?

So to me there will be (most likely) be vacancies in:

Tampa Bay, Indy, St Louis, San Diego, Kansas City, Jacksonville, Miami, Cleveland(possibly)... anyone else?

So unless there is a surprise firing, which of these teams would want Chud? & which ones would Chud consider?

Jeff fisher biggest name out there. (Cower & Gruden always mentioned)

Rick Dennison, OC, Texans; Bill O'Brien, OC, Patriots & Vic Fangio, DC, 49ers are rumored to be in demand.

San Diego is probably the best fit...

If being an expert at anything was a requirement to post here, you would be hearing crickets right now.

He's not leaving and even if he tries to, I could see Hurney offering him big bucks.

nah, Hurney isn't going to pay Chud and Rivera the same...Hurney would not only create in house issues but league wide problems.

you have to realize that Chud looks like a genius in part b/c of CAM NEWTON. It is a yin and yang type deal. Also, how many people though Chud was AWESOME the first quarter of the season.....I do believe he struggled with obvious situtational playcalling.

The longer Cam has been around....the better Chud looks. Not a coincidence. Love Chud. But Chud is now getting a tad overrated. You put him on another team w/o a special QB....and his creativity would often look like stupidity.

See Mike Martz as exhibit A to your post.

Faulk/Holt/Warner will make you look a lot smarter than Forte/Cutler/R. Williams. Funky schemes work in highschool and to some degree, college. You can get away with the same or lesser talented players and win by scheme and play calling. In the NFL, you need the talented players to make these schemes work effectively for the long term.
