You are right...There are so many QBs gunning for that 5000 class that if he doesn't pad his numbers by playing his accomplishment will be short lived.

If the NFL still did this, what would have looked really dumb is if they started him, he got sacked for 4 yards and got hurt - not being able to return.

Individual passing yardage isn't affected by a sack anymore (though team passing yardage still is).
