Draft Positioning

To help you enjoy Sunday even more (could not find this anywhere--figured it should be a thread). This is speculative (of course), because it is based on this week's overall opponent win percentages. I would say it is pretty accurate, however.

IF THE PANTHERS WIN, the worst they can do is draft 13th. The best is 11th. Arizona is favored, so odds are they would have the 12th selection. Pull for the Cardinals to beat the Seahawks at home.

IF THE PANTHERS LOSE, the worst they can do is draft 9th. The best they can do is 8th. Miami is favored by 1 over the Jets at home, so pull for the Dolphins to beat the Jets.

Here is where they stand now. Root for the Panthers, and the Dolphins and the Cardinals. ALthough I do not think beating the Saints bench means much--if we beat their starters, then I agree that the win is significant.

Order Team Record Schedule strength

1 Indianapolis Colts 2-13 .552

2 St. Louis Rams 2-13 .571

3 Minnesota Vikings 3-12 .565

4 Cleveland Browns 4-11 .515

5 Jacksonville Jaguars 4-11 .529

6 Tampa Bay Bucs 4-11 .545

7 Washington Rskins 5-10 .476

8 Miami Dolphins 5-10 .511

9 Carolina Panthers 6-9 .482

10 Buffalo Bills 6-9 .498

11 Kansas City Chiefs 6-9 .516

12 Arizona Cardinals 7-8 .476

13 Philadelphia Eagles 7-8 .500

14 Seattle Seahawks 7-8 .509

15 San Diego Chargers 7-8 .516

16 Chicago Bears 7-8 .556

17 Tennessee Titans 8-7 .453

18 Dallas Cowboys 8-7 .467

19 New York Jets 8-7 .502

20 Oakland Raiders 8-7 .507

21 New York Giants 8-7 .518

22 Denver Broncos 8-7 .524

I thought Carolina could pick 9th even with a W over NO

If Buffalo beats New England in Foxboro and Kansas City beats Denver at Denver, but if not, if we beat New ORleans, these teams jump us. If Arizona loses, they jump us too. Arizona, however, is favored by 3 over Seattle at Arizona.

I like Christmas in April as much as the next guy, but anyone that even thinks about being OK with losing for the sake of the draft needs to turn their fugging fan card into TRD right now!

Who said that? If you think beating New Orlean's practice squad calls for a macho parade down Trade Street and we lose a chance at a top OT or CB, then pound that chest. If we play their starters then it means something. If not, it is a sister kisser.

Not hardly dude. If they bench their starters then I wanna see us hang 50+ on them and then have Rivera walk to Payton after the game and whisper in his ear, "Not even Brees can save you any longer!"

I see that, to a degree from a fan perspective, but it would mean more to you than the players. They are not getting pumped over 50 points when they know it is a glorified scrimmage against bench warmers. I would not even feel that great about a 50 point win over the Saints bench.

Then select the first option and pull for Arizona as well. One of the two scenarios is going to happen, and it should be interesting just to know where we would draft either way.

To be fair, half of our team (*caugh* DEFENCE *caugh*) are "bench warmers".

I would much rather win and build confidence for the current team than throw away a game for an unproven commodity.

Your comment about the "New Orleans' practice squad" makes me chuckle though, especially with how some "fans" here have consistently devalued the teams' wins this season. Carolina wins a game, it's because of some deficiency on the other team. Yet, when Carolina loses, I see posts that look like they've been typed with one hand and eyes full of tears.

I just can't see how it's possible to undermine the value of a Carolina victory. Two of the 3 starting LBs done since early on, starting DT down, rookie QB, two rookie DTs, revolving door @ #2 CB, rookie head coach, new coaching staff, no offseason, etc. Yet, nobody seeks to undermine an opponent's victory at worst. At the very least, the fact that the team is starting to gel together the way it is, and the way they've gone from one of the worst to one of the best offenses without that offseason and all of the other question marks is pretty fuging impressive O_O
