Work Habits key to Newton's Success

Per the New York Times:

But the Panthers say Newton’s work habits, which were questioned before the draft, help explain why he has put up such impressive statistics. After missing off-season training and minicamps because of the lockout, Newton has spent countless hours in film sessions preparing for each game, coaches and teammates say.

“I think the whole entire thing stems from his want-to and his ability to work and study, understand what coaches ask of him every single week and then going out there and doing it to the best of his ability,” Anderson said.

Hmmmm....why are we not reading things like this about Gabbert and Dalton? Why are we made to assume they are natural hardworkers, while Cam work ethics are questioned?

Who exactly made you assume that about Gabbert and Dalton?

On topic, great read. A lot of good in there. Really impressed with

Newton has not produced a 400-yard passing day since the opening two weeks. But after throwing 14 interceptions in the first 10 games, when the Panthers were 2-8, he has thrown two as the Panthers have won four of their last five games.

Cutting down on INTs like that is great to see.

We are reading it about Cam because he is a bright, shining star in the league. He is going to get lots of press, and he should. And it is entirely appropriate that the article would provide some historical context, talking about the struggles he has had to overcome.

It is really tiresome that you always see the boogie-man hiding under a rock. Save it for when it is warranted, not everytime someone mentions Cam in any context.
