Chris Gamble is having a great season as the top cover man for the Panthers. Teams have given up throwing it in his direction, and he has been targeted just 55 times this season. That’s because when he is targeted he is allowing just 41.8% of passes to be completed (second only to Darrelle Revis among starters), at 12.3 yards per reception. The 70 yards after the catch he has given up is a league low among every-down starters and only Revis has a held opposing quarterbacks to a lower rating than the 47.8 Chris Gamble has. By contrast, Charles Woodson is allowing 62% of passes into his coverage to be completed. While he may be around the football more than Gamble because of the way he is utilized in Dom Capers’ scheme, it is not always in a good way, as he has notched 15 missed tackles, trailing only Ronde Barber and Jabari Greer while being tied with Tramon Williams.
