Pro Bowl Selection: Steve Smith IN Newton OUT

When it's all said and done, the QB position was going to be the toughest because as we all know, this year's QBs have been kicking behinds, at least in the NFC.

The fact that Cam made it as first alternate over Matt Stafford says how competitive the NFC really is.

The more I stop to think about it, the more I realize how tough this division really is.

Congrats to everyone who were choosen, even the alternates because it shows you are being recognized.

Gamble might of made it if the defense wasn't ranked 30th in the league. But you can't fault the players or coaches for not picking a player off a terrible defense.

Tell that to Andre Carter (who I was campaigning for us to sign before the season), Vince Wilfork, Dwight Freeney, Jared Allen, BJ Raji, Clay Matthews, Adrian Wilson. Good players on bad defenses can get recognition.

Just like good players on bad offenses can get recognition: Larry Fitzgerald, MJD, Joe Thomas, D'brickashaw Ferguson, Jake Long, Nick Mangold, Davin Joseph, Joe Staley, Frank Gore.

Alternate? Alternate is like being your 4th or 5th choice to the highschool prom.

Homecoming queen? No.

Cheerleader? Nope.

Cute girl that helps out in the school office? No way Jose.

So you're stuck. Either the slut with the cold sore, the weird girl who likes the Cure or the girl in the back of the class that smells like patchouli.

To be selected as the first alternate QB as a rookie is pretty incredible.

I don't know if any rookie QB has been an alternate on a Pro-Bowl team in quite sometime but to see Dalton and Cam as first alternates make me smile.

Although, I still believe Cam is doing way more and asked to do way more for his team than Dalton, I'm happy the way they have rep this draft class. Acccording to the so called experts, this year's QB draft class was suppose to be one of the weakest. Way to prove them wrong, Cam and Dalton.

Hmmmmm....we talking about alternates in sports and your rookie QB playing in a league that is very tough, not your personal life...But thanks for sharing...lol

Not if the alternate is better than the actual selection. Hell, most years the Pro Bowl alternates are better in most cases with the big-name players getting picked based on popularity/name recognition.

Cam will be in the Pro Bowl. The odds that either Brees or Rodgers will be in the super bowl are so good that first alternate is essentially the 3rd QB spot.

U are surprised?

I'm a Giants fan and Eli is now getting all the media love because the other Manning brother is not playing. Eli was getting the "step-brother" treatment from the media for quite sometime while Peyton was getting all the love, even thou he won one SB ring just like Peyton. This is the first time Eli is getting the "Peyton Manning" love. I guess since he's a Manning boy it was only going to be a matter of time...SMH at all the politics in our sports media these days.

Lets look at why Eli has gotten the "step brother treatment"

2005 25 TDs 19 turnovers

2006 24 TDs 20 turnovers

2007 24 TDs 27 turnovers

2008 22 TDs 12 turnovers

2009 27 TDs 22 turnovers

2010 31 TDs 30 turnovers

Now compare that to Peyton, Rodgers, Brees and others who get more than double as many TDs as turnovers. Eli isn't as good as them it's that simple

The only way for one of these guys to make the probowl is if a better player decides not to go. So to me being an alternate is just a scrub standing in for the real deal.

Its like when Garrard made the Probowl.

Well, considering what these QBs are doing this season, it's really tough to say who should be an alternate but I think the NFC got it right. Although I will raise my eyebrow a bit at Eli going over Matt but Cam is a rookie and he's hanging with vets who have at least five years experience over him. Him as an alternate his first time out is a very good thing.

Yes, but how much better is he this season when he's 25 td to 16 turnovers and he has had some of his turn-overs credited to his receivers and not to himself or he would have been higher. I should now, I watch the Gaints play.

But yes, you're proving my point. Why is the love so much different this year than in past if he's playing pretty much about the same, take or give a few Ints.
