Best and Worst Draft Moments

I thought this should be interesting. post your most favorite (ones that you jumped for joy) and least favorite (those WTF was they thinking) panther draft moments

favorite: when we picked deangelo. thought he was going to be something special and was estatic to get him.

least favorite: 2002 when we got Julius peppers. i admit i didn't know much about football then (what i was 12?) and thought we needed to get a qb or else we would suck. glad we didn't pick harrington and julius proved me wrong. that's the only one i can remember right now

i loved last years draft ALOT! i really didnt think the panthers would have the balls to trade up for an extra first round pick...i also didnt think they were gunna draft stewart...hell of a draft....i also remember being thrilled to get gamble and then gettin colbert....an in 03's draft i think it was, when minnesota missed there pick, that was unforgettable...the commentators were goin crazy, viking fans were goin crazy...the team after them an then us made our selections in like 1 minute haha

as far as worst draft memory....i wanted lendale, we took dwill....but TRUST me i have never once complained since draft day

'08 was kind of a roller coaster for me. I was pretty pissed when we drafted Stewart. Not because I thought he would be a bust, but because I though DWill was definitely good enough to be a #1 RB and we needed an OT a lot more. Then I was overjoyed and excited to see us trade up to get Otah. We were lucky he was even available at that spot and the Stewart pick made a lot more sense now. Then after a brief period of celebration I was pissed again when they showed what we traded away to get him.

i thought i was the only one that was pissed about the stewart pick and what we gave up for otah. i wanted us to trade up in front of denver and get clady and get forte in the 2nd round. I was mad we gave up this year's first to get otah and i was of the opinion we needed to keep gross on the right side. either way it worked out for us.

But when you look at it now we are in a tough situation with are 5 draft picks.

When Brady Quinn Started falling I thought for sure we were going to draft him. Then the Panthers trading down....okay, maybe we still can get a top notch safety. Nope, all gone. Panthers select Jon Beason. WTF!!!!! This guy was suppose to be a 2nd round pick! We could have had Quinn or Griffin or ect. What were they thinking!

I liked Beason before we even drafted him but I felt that the team missed out on some better opportunities. Needless to say I am so glad I am not the GM and not the one making the picks because that year Beason may be the best pro so far from that entire draft.

Oh forgot the best moment. Kinda the same as the Beason pick but opposite. The first year of the Panthers I thought the Collins pick was amazing. It was probably because it was the first year and also because I was young and no where near as "in the know" as I am now but I can not remember being that excited in any draft since then.

    • I've watched and listened to several evaluations from the good ole youtubers.  From what I was able to watch, the first few drives before I left to do a job to the end of the game were very different for Bryce.  So he had a "good" game.  Which is great.  I love a win, period.  His WRs had some drops, thing ripped away, etc.  Not great, but a W is a W, right? I think the Panthers have to start Bryce.  You have to see if he continues to build on the good plays and make fewer and fewer bad plays.  No QB is going to play a perfect game.  But we need to continue to see Bryce make plays.  Does he have the ability to will his team to victory?  I'm not sure. I'm still in the Bryce is a backup QB camp.  I'm glad he had a good game, I glad we won, but I need to see more before we make a decision to keep or trade him.  Playing Andy literally does NOTHING to help you for the future.  Andy may not even resign with the Panthers.  We could be out both starting QBs by the time FA/Draft season hits. Ultimately, this is a Dan Morgan and Dave Canales issue.  Can they get value out of Bryce to help them improve the total roster?  Is there a FA QB who would be an upgrade?  A surprise cut or post season trade?  Or is there a QB at the top of the draft who they think they can mold into a high level starting QB?  I don't know. I do know I want to see more of Bryce Young and more out of him on the field.  I want to see the fire, the competitor come out.  I want him getting pissed.  I want him to grab his beanbag and tell us all he's the f'ing dude.  I just don't think we'll see that out of Bryce.  If not the fire, then let me see the ice - let me see the rattle proof dude who kills with accuracy and playmaking no matter how hot and crazy it gets.
    • Ickey at LT and Brady as Center / Swing position player is more valuable to our team IMO
    • That's fair but signing a veteran like Justin Fields to a one year deal and drafting defense with our first is always an option two.  I personally don't think these QBs this year are top 10 worthy selections
